The month of love

02.10

I can't believe this is my first update on actnuts this month!  I am truly a slacker.  Remember the Buddhist meditation this month as you deal with your trials and tribulations: Love is

Good morning!  Let the stress begin!

02.11

You can't have sunshine without rain.  You can't have joy without pain.  Focus on the sunshine and the joy!  The rain and pain won't last!

The human experience

02.16

Human life is a puzzle!  Animals are tormented with life or death.  Humans have so much more to deal with.  Bring it on!  If we don't have confusion, conflict how else would we experience and realize our perfection?

Bipolar lifestyle

02.17

Oh the sweet rollercoaster of life.  One day you're the hammer, the next day the nail.  Humans never should have left the trees!  Think about it.

Torn apart by your webmaster

02.18

I feel a fist around my heart,

Gripping, ripping, torn apart.

Breathing strained, gut is clenched

Sickly feeling in my chest.

Was this what was manifest,

When my love was second  best?

Sarah's latest adventures

02.19

Thanks for the pictures sweet Sarah!  Make sure you read her post on the guestbook from yesterday!

Love

02.22

Love involves a peculiar unfathomable combination of understanding and misunderstanding.

-Diane Arbus

The courses of true love never did run smooth.

-Shakespeare

Date Extraordinary!

02.27

My love and I went out for dinner and got serenaded.  They asked for requests, I said, "Play Metallica" and damn if they didn't!  It was great being there enjoying each other over a couple margaritas and loving conversation.  Mmmmmmmmm!

Thank you for the compliment. It was not easy. There were bad times and good times. And times we thought it had been a failure. But we had patience and love won out.(as it always does)We are not perfect and we have made many mistakes as parents. But we did our best, and we are proud of all our kids. Each is different in their own way. But in the qualities that count, they are all the same.

Did you hear, that buckwheat went to Camp LeJeune to tell the Marines that he was gonna end the war in AUGUST 2010. That is like if FDR addressed the troops on D Day and told our Armed Forces that he was going to end the war with the Krauts on may 1945. Why wait to AUGUST 2010 TO BRING THE BOYS HOME? What a moron buckwheat is! He will wreck this country in his first term. I SUPPORT THE PRESIDENT, BUT I DO NOT SUPPORT HIS POLICIES. SO, I HOPE HE FAILS. Those of us who did not vote for him do not deserve this person.

It is beginning to look like Springtime in Tallahassee. The air is spring like and azales are beginning to bloom. It is also time to get ready for April Fool's Day on Sunday. Beware of all the fools that are waiting to fool you. I may be one of them. Hope all have had a good week and that all are feeling up to par. Better be ready for a wet weekend. Wah Wah Wah, Ol Dad us blowing off again. Why doesn't he just shut up. Who cares!!!Do you own a gun? better get your ammo. Or maybe you can just say, BANG BANG. Ask yourself, why are gun sales going out of sight? How many of those new gun owners have ever fired a gun before? Have they had a class on safety? Do they know which end the bullet comes out of? Would you want your neighbor shooting his gun in the middle of the night?

When things get bad. You know, WORSE…. We will still survive. We are lucky in a way. In the early part of our lives, we have had experiences that we can and will have to draw upon for survivor skills. We have all been poor. No, not really poor, for the poorest American is wealthy compared to the rest of the world. . We knew where our next meal was coming from. We didn’t have to carry our pack on our back and live underneath the bridge. But, we have all had a relatively conservative way of life. We do not live in high society. We don’t hang out with the night club crowd. We are all pretty thin. (We can get a lot thinner, but we are not fat). We can and may have to tighten our belts and we may have to hunker down to get through hard times. So, what we have to fear is fear its self. FDR said that back in the Thirties and it will always be true. Now, I say to you, we will survive. We have a good attitude about life. The family is the most important thing in our lives. Remember, when the Indians rode around the wagon train, the early pioneers hung together and fought back. That attitude is what will sustain us. We must tighten up as a family. We may have to do unusual things to survive before things improve. I do not know what survival skills we will have to use and no one else does. But I think that our love of family will get us through. I am optimistic.

In the history of our nation, The USA has survived almost every disaster. There was the American Revolution. There was the Civil War (War between the states). We have survived WW1 and WW2 and Korea and Vietnam. BUT AND I AM SHOUTING. CAN WE SURVIVE OB? Will he permanently wreck this country in four years (or less)? I am an old man but I am frightened. I am concerned about the future. What will become of us? DO YOU GIVE A DAMN? do you care about the impact of what is being done to our country? do you care what happens to your children?

First Amendment, Second Amendment? You say, “They can’t do that. I have my rights!” Yes you do and under the Second Amendment you may possess a firearm. Well, that is if you can pass all the tests. And no one can take that right away from you. RIGHT? BS…. the government can pass a law that you must have liability insurance in the amount of a million dollars to possess a firearm. OK, you say, What is the government going to do, come into my home to see if I have a firearm? Of Course not. But, didn’t you have to register your firearm when you bought it? So, the government knows you have a firearm. And if you didn’t have liability insurance to keep your firearm, what are YOU going to do? Best of all, the government knows so much about you that you would be frightened. Or, how about this. You have a firearm but you have to buy ammo for it. So what if the government passes a law saying you have to have a Firearms Permit to purchase ammo. Guess you would just have to say BANG BANG BANG, In 36 days, BO’s administration has spent almost a trillion dollars. Well, the congress spent it. But you get the picture. Whose money is that anyway? Oh well, who cares. Let the grandchildren pay for it. By the time they are paying, most of us will be over the hill. I SUPPORT THE PRESIDENT, BUT I DO NOT SUPPORT HIS POLICIES. SO, I HOPE HE FAILS.

It has been some time since I hit on GLOBAL WARMING and I don’t want you to forget my position on that topic. Some day, when the world is destroyed, and perhaps Actnuts is discovered, I want the person who reads the guest book to know that someone spoke out. So, here goes. Do you believe in global warming? Do you know anyone who believes in global warming? Well, I know people who do, and this is for them. Global warming is the biggest hoax that has been perpetrated on the American People. Yes, anyone who believes that the people of the earth can raise the temp of the earth one degree is totally stupid. I believe that only liberals believe in such crap. So, if you know a lib, you can bet they believe in GW. Now, in the past, I have spoken out to identify anyone who is stupid . Perhaps, ignorant is a better word, for those who believe in GW ignore the facts. So, I my conclusion is that LIBERALS ARE IGNORANT OR A BETTER WORD IS STUPID. That is my belief and I will say it in public when ever I feel the urge. I SUPPORT THE PRESIDENT, BUT I DO NOT SUPPORT HIS POLICIES. THUS, I HOPE HE FAILS.

Has the government ever done anything right? Anyone want to handle that one? But who is trying, and I repeat, TRYING to resolve the financial crisis in the country. In fact, many of the crooks that caused this problem are the ones who are deeply involved in the correction. That is like the criminals running the prison. I am not one who is the most brilliant economist, but in my humble opinion no one will be buying cars or houses or any other big ticket items if the people do not have the money. Or if they fear that they might be laid off. The marketplace is the only thing which can and must resolve this crisis. Yet, these stupid politicians won’t even give the marketplace a try or the credit for being able to resolve the problem. Are the pols STUPID?? Hell no! But they sure are interested in getting reelected. And reelected and reelected. If you notice, a lot of this stimulus package will come into effect in 20010. That is when many of the pols are due for reelection. Think about it. If you want to understand the problem we are in today, read about what FDR did during the Great Depression. It is the same thing that is being done today. Only these crooks are doing it bigger and better today. It did not work back in the Thirties and what is being done now will not work either. Some of YOU VOTED FOR THIS MAN AND HIS PARTY AND YOU ARE GETTING WHAT YOU DESERVE. Only you may also be destroyed by the very political party you voted for. I support the president but I do not support his policies and so, I hope he fails.

Today, Buddy and I went to the Sears parking lot at the Governors Mall. We went there to watch the annual police rodeo. I love to see the young police officers and admire how they are able to make their big "Hog's" do their bidding. I know that it takes great skill and strength to make such a big bike twist and turn. I used to be able to do it but I am not as strong as I used to be. I have been riding bikes since I was a young man and motorcycles are a part of my life. My first ride was an Indian. They still make that bike but it is not as popular as the other big American bikes are today. There was a bike shop up across the tracks close to the mountain and my Dad often took me there to admire the bikes and talk with the bikers and the shop owner. I was a big boy as a teenager and I used to sit on the bikes and imagine how it would be to ride a bike of my own. Then, one day the shop owner asked me if I would like to take a ride. Of course I would! I didn't ask my Dad for permission because I knew he would agree. Back in the Thirties, bikes were not as big and heavy as they are today and I think the Indian was not bigger than a 250 CC is today. So, I threw a leg over the bike and sat on the Indian and studied the bike to see where things were. Then,I started the bike up by jumping on the starter. (There was no thing as an electric starter back then). WOW! the sound of the motor was a thrill and I turned the gas lever and reved the engine. I popped the clutch and all of a sudden I was riding down along the rail road tracks. That was it! I was hooked. But I had no money and it was too expensive to get a bike so I just had to dream for many years. And so it was years before I could afford a motorcycle. When I was in the Army it was not permitted for an officer to ride a motorcycle because it was undignified. However, when we assigned to Panama, I needed transportation, so I got a big motor scooter and soon was riding all around the Isthmus on my Silver Pidgin. It was one of the biggest thrills I could imagine. But, my first real bike was a 250 CC Honda. And that was all I needed. I had to have a bigger and better bike so my next bike was a Kawasaki 500. My next bike was bigger and better and then, my Yamaha XS Eleven was my first "New bike". Guess who has it now? Erik Shipley. And then you all know the fun I had getting my Star (Yamaha) 950. Well folks, I live to ride. It is still one of the biggest thrills in my life. So, watching the young troopers run through the pilons was thrilling. There were a few "B-mers" in the line up but most of the police bikes were big Harley Hogs. One of the biggest thrills at the rodeo is when I can talk with other bikers and see how they dress and carry themselves. I know many people think of bikers as "trash and trouble." Bikers don't talk or act like the rest of the population. They are not neat or clean and they often look like they need a bath. But they are real people and deep down they are great folks. Maybe some of you feel that way also. But, life is just Great! and I will ride till I can't.

Do you have faith in America? Do you think we can survive? Is your glass half full or is it half empty? Is the Business Cycle real or was it just a myth? Is this not the Greatest Nation that ever was? Or do you think it is just a house of cards? I know the answer to all of those questions. I believe that America will survive. I know that the Business Cycle is true. I know that “we the people” will come out of this crisis and we will be better and stronger than we have ever been. BUT, We must have faith. No, it is not HOPE. You hope when you are just sitting on your ass. H O P I N G things will get better… No, we must work for that is what we do best. That goes for building houses or refrigerators or cars. Sitting on your ass will not do a thing. Get up! Fight! Look for new ways to do what you know how to do. We will work our way out of this mess. We are the world’s leader and good leaders Win.

Kurt, Keep those words of wisdom coming. Words mean things. Yet, most language is unspoken. Buddy and I speak to each other every day. I know what he means even when he used his own language. A look can speak more than any word can. We express most of the best things in life without saying a single word. Love is best expressed without words. Happiness does not need a word. Sadness is its' own word. A baby can express more than they will ever be able to do when at last they learn how to speak. But, thank God that we have language. We do not need to have the same language to be able to understand each other. And so on. I love to read your posts, my Kurt. I am still looking forward to making that tape for you. Love, your Dad

What a wonderful weekend. It was Valentine’s Day on Saturday and Mama and I went out and tried the new Chinese restaurant up in Bradleyville. It is just a “hole in the wall” but soup is good. Then on Sunday, Kim arrived first, then Kurt and Amber and at the end of the day, the Shipley’s arrived. So all we needed was to have the Roberson’s walk in the door. It did not happen.. It was a rainy weekend and here it is Monday morning and the sun is out. I hope you all had as good a weekend as we had. Thank you for being our kids. Love Dad

BEA MY VALENTINE! Today is a day meant for lovers. So, list’ to the words that I say. I’ll love you forever and ever, As this verse that I send you today. Today, you’re my Valentine darling, Because you’re the love of my life. Know that I’ll always be yours dear For you are my sweet little wife. It’s true love that’s kept us together, Across life’s wild stormy sea. And still somehow we are together, Just we two, forever, you and me. So keep this Valentine, my darling, And keep it next to your heart. It tells you that I will always, Be in love, as I was from the start. BY, Your husband, Joe Valentine‘s Day 2009 My love, we have our differences. No marriage is perfect. I could not predict on 23 August that we would get this far. In fact, I never even thought of it. I had LUST IN MY HEART. I did not know what real love was. Love means good times and bad times. It means, happiness and sadness. It means separation and tears and Yes, sometimes angry words. Love means much, much more. And it means So much that can only be experienced. There is no road map for love. It just is.

What all happened in February 2001? How did we think back then? Some were together and now they are apart. Some had not met yet. We have changed our ideas and we have grown a little and perhaps increased a bit in knowledge. Some of us were not alive back then. It would take a book to record all the changes that have happened and are now a part of history. But, who would know the book had been written and who would care what was said? If ever we need hero’s, we need them today. At the beginning of WW2 the situation was almost the same as it is today. The Japs had destroyed our fleet. Pearl Harbor was destroyed. Americans had been defeated in the Philippines. There was terrible news everywhere. There were wars and rumors of wars. And so we needed something to buck up our spirits then and now. Back at the beginning of WW2 We had to find heroes and find them we did. Sounds familiar? Today I watched Sully and his flight crew get the keys to the city in New York city, and I thought, if ever there was a hero, Sully is the one. Yet, he didn’t act like a hero as the Mayor gave him the key to the city. Sully acted embarrassed that all this fuss was being made over him. Sully is an Air Force Academy grad. He flew f-4’s… he was just doing his job. Yet, he is a real hero. We all have our 15 minutes of fame and then we go back into our hole. Of course most of us just do our job and the only reward we get is knowing that we “just did our job“. And I thought, my Dad was a big fish in a small pond. He just did his job. He served his town and all he got for it was a chair. My Mom, just did her job. Then she got the opportunity to get out on the stage and she proved to be a hero. And so Sully got the keys to the city and he will go back to his life and be forgotten like the rest. History may or may not remember people like Sully. Butt they are always waiting in the wings. Waiting for that magic moment when they are thrust onto the stage. Shakespeare once wrote that “LIFE IS A POOR PLAYER, WHO STRUTS AND FRETS ITS TIME UPON THE STAGE AND THEN IT IS HEARD NO MOME. It is a tale told by and idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing. Thank God for people like Sully. He deserves more than the keys to the city. He……..

He is letting the terrorists, who bombed the Cole, OFF! YES, HE IS ‘FORGETTING’ THEIR PART IN THE TERRORIST ATTACK. So, if your son was killed in the attack on the Cole, and the terrorists were let off, how would you feel? What is wrong with this picture? Huh? This is the gang who can’t shoot straight. Wait till “he” lets gays into the Armed Forces. What the hell is next? Well folks, you voted for him and now you have him and I hope you are happy with him. I support him, but I DO NOT SUPPORT HIS POLICIES.

During the Colonial period, the problem that the people had with the king was, guess what? TAXES! Do you hear? It was, TAXES! And what did the Colonists do about it? They were tired of it and they were not going to stand it any longer. Guess what the problem is today? I know you know. And now we have another “person” trying to shove “his taxes” down our throat. The people are pissed off and they better not Put up with it.

GLENN, WE HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY TO YOU! We are getting sick and tired of hearing people referring to the democrat party as the Democratic Party. Democrat is a noun but democratic is a verb. Now, democratic is not what the democrat party is or ever will be. So, we ask that you stop referring to the democrat party as the Democratic Party. Let us call them what they are. Warm Regards, the Bowman’s in Tallahassee, Fl

When addressing a group of over 3000 kids, albore told them. You know more than your parents do. (Must be talking about texing) but I suppose that albore is talking about global warming, which is now know as climate change. Is albore trying to separate us from our kids? Sounds like the Hitler Youth. Next thing, the kids will be snitching on their parents.

Do you suppose “he” thinks you can catch a bird with salt? Huh? He is such a poor leader! but I support him and not his policies. I hope he fails at enacting a constant stream of worthless paper at the people. We may look stupid. Our feckless leaders treat us as though we are stupid. BUT, WE ARE NOT STUPID. I am pissed off and I am not going to take it any longer…. The porkulus package probably will get passed one day. A few RINO Republicans may vote for it. But it will be a “Pyrrhic Victory” for “him.” He is not going to shove this piece of pork down our throats.

My trip to the heart doctor was uneventful. I started out by going to the lab to get my blood work done and I also visited the Coumadin clinic. They did an EKG on me at the dr. office and found that the my Creatin was a little better, 3.something, compared to 4.something when I went to the hospital. If you remember, Dr Katapodis would not do a heart cath because my kidney’s were in such bad shape. Dr K discussed the problem of my kidneys and he feels that the risk would be too great to perform a cath. I might end up on dialasis or it might kill me or. who knows what might happen? At any rate he didn’t think that the cath would be the way to go and I agree. Today I walked all over the place, Wal Mart and the hospital and I had no angina. So who knows? It is unpredictable. There is not much I could do to change it. I carry nitro with me and take a pill if I have angina, but then that doesn’t always work either.

PORKULUS, STIMULUS, CALL IT WHAT YOU MAY, IT IS OUR MONEY. IT IS NOT GOVERNMENT MONEY OR THE MONEY THAT BELONGS TO CONGRESS. GLENN, IT IS OUR MONEY. Yes I am shouting. When are those clowns in Washington going to get the message? They are spending our money. Here is how to stimulate the economy. Give the people money, their money. Give every American who pays taxes, a tax break. Make it for a day, a month or a year, whatever. Get the money that belongs to us into our hands. You want to stimulate the economy, give families enough money to buy a new car. Sounds ridiculos doesn’t it? If people are buying cars, cars will be built and sold, (that is if the people like them) give the people money to pay off their mortgage. Then houses will sell. Give the people enough money to buy what they want and that will do what no economist or lawmaker can do. That is just an example of how to stimulate the economy. It is evident that Congress does not know how to stimulate the economy. Hell no! They want to spend it so they get reelected. That is what the argument is all about. Congress wants to spend our money; they do not want us to spend our money? WARM REGARDS, the Bowman’s in Tallahassee, Fl

We are looking forward to your show tonight. We have reserved the time slot from 5-6 PM for you. We hope you will have all your ducks together tonight. We would like to see your talking points cover topics like universal health care. It would ruin our health care in the nation. And Global warming is a topic that stirs our pot. How can anyone in the northern USA support ALGORE and his boon doggle? We hope you don't talk about the babies? or the governor. Name RINO Senators who might vote for the stimulus. Yes, NAME THE turncoats and their state. Just one of these phonies can embolden the dems. It would make the bill bypartisan. Why not let us know what the people would get if that porkulus money were given to US? Sound crazy? give the people the money rather than GM or some bank or in some congressman's pocket . Yes, give the money to us. Not in the form of a check from the govt, but just cut our taxes for a month a day or a year. Oh well, you get the idea. We'll be watching. WARM REGARDS, The Bowman's in Tallhassee, Fl

Today I thought about Erik and U sitting on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial and remembering what we did in Mt Holly and Bermuda. He looked so healthy and I could still remember his smile. We watched Lady Liberty being hoisted up to the top of the Capitol. He lives forever in my memory.

I told you that this economic mess would be over. And it will be. Do not let the “nay- Sayers” fool you. Most are just “young know- nothing kids.” And all they know is what people say around the water cooler. Or what they read in the papers, or even worse, what they see on TV. But, what I didn’t say, and what you need to remember, during the Great Depression, it was not over in a few months, or years. FDR did not end the Recession. In fact, he exacerbated it. Most kids do not know that. Hell no, FDR kept screwing up and the Congress helped him. Unfortunately today, the dems and Obama are making the same stupid mistakes that were made during the Depression. Yes, read about it. Let me repeat, OBAMA AND THE DEMS ARE DOINGTHE SAME THINGS TODAY THAT WERE DONE DURING THE GREAT DEPRESSION. Think the dems haven’t learned a lesson from the past? Of course they have! And the results are the same. Listen up; all of this is designed to make more and more AMERICANS, SERVANTS OF THE GOVERNMENT. It worked in the Thirties and it is working now. Do you think that FDR loved the people so much that he supported Social Security? Social Security helped many Americans but it made them hooked on it and all it is a “Ponzi Scheme.” Another one you need to Google. What is the lesson? Many businesses that are here today will soon be gone. That may be someone you know. Yes, my children, the future belongs to the survivors. It is the Last Man Standing that wins. That held true for the cave men as well as the business man of today. Nice guys fail. Innovative ways to do the job, plus plenty of leadership and guts can do much to help all of us survive.

We missd you last evening at the Family Superbowl party. But when you are earning money these days, you can't break off and have fun with the Family. There will be other times, when times are better. Till then, have a beer and remember the good times. THEY WILL RETURN! HOW DO I KNOW? I remember during the Great Depression when I often heard that "good times had gone forever." But like the lake, they did. ALL THIS SHALL PASS. lOVE dAD
