When I was young and stupid, I had a smart (A smarter) mouth. As you know from all I have written about my Mother, that she loved her home. I foolishly thought she meant the people who lived in her home. That was true of course. But there is also love for the house. The wooden structure, the rooms, the windows, the doors, the kitchen. Every room has a special feeling and a special memory. There my Grandma Aggie lay in her casket. In that room, my Dad lay for thirteen years. In that room, the family, (all of us) sat for dinner. That room was my bed room. In that room, my Dad slept. In that room, my Mom slept. Up those stairs led to the attic. In every room, something that I shall never forget happened. I can see my Dad shaving in the bathroom. I can smell the bacon cooking down in the kitchen. Yes, my Mom could cook bacon. On the back porch, we all sat after church. On the front porch my Parents sat on the swing in the darkness. How young they were. How little I appreciated them, until it was too late. I still can hear the swing squeak. Yes, there are ghosts in every house. And there are memories, some beautiful, some terrifying that will never disappear. One day, my Mom asked me if I loved my home and I foolishly lied to her and said, NO. I knew I had hurt her because she was wiser than I and she knew that someday I might be a little smarter.

Do I see Erik sitting outside, waiting for Kurt? Or my Mom at the picture window? or Barbra in her pretty bedroom? or Kurt and Vern up on the roof? And there is my lovely wife at the open door? Where has all our lives gone? In a flash, it is disappeared and only memories are left. TIME, YOU THIEF....

Kurt are you gonna put Shelterrock on Actnuts? Good for history. Barbra, maybe Shelly could jump the fence or just ask the folks in the house to take a picture and tell them it is for our history. Of course I gut punched Kurt. I was crazy back then. Poor little guy!

Kurt, Great memories. Like you, when I looked at our old home, there was a flood of memories. How quickly time has passed. We moved into the house back in in 1974 when I returned from Viet Nam. $34,000,00, I was terrified at the cost. How could we ever pay for it? we made $90,000,00 on it. It was a new experience to live "off post". Most of our life, we lived "on post" surrounded by Officers and their families. Being in a civilian environment was different. But the people we lived around were just as interesting and fun as any we could ever have know. Most are all dead now. Jinny and John are gone. the Hinckleys are in Colorado. Vern is dead. Ruth? who knows. We did so much in Mt Holly. There was so much, the beach, the mountains, the cities. Philadelphia and New York and Trenton, museums and Motorcycling, hiking, camping. The Rancocas Creek, and the Deleware. Having so much fun with Kurt and Barbra, Nina returning to Mt Holly to help us out. Nina and Claude marrying. Our kids growing up, and my Mom living with us and her death and happiness and sadness and crying and fighting and anger and leaving Mt Holly in 1985 and seeing Barbra in the rear view mirror. Memories, and so much more, It is what life is all about. We have pictures of so many events. But our memories are in our minds. And we will take them with us.

I just looked at the picture that Barbra took of our old house in Mt. Holly. I was overwelmed with memories of that front yard. Sleeping in my van in the driveway. Eric Nelson biting the head off a dove that I shot off the telephone line. Getting punched in the stomach by my father for scratching his new Toyota. Jodi taking pictures of me doing my kicks. Freeing a bat that I caught and watching it fly towards Barbra's face. Smoking the leaves off a plant that was growing on the side of the house. Helping set up a trap to cripple the people who cut throught the yard on their bikes. Shoveling the snow off the driveway. Sitting on the curb with Debbie Dare and wanting her! Sitting on the front porch at 4am with Neil McCrum after a night of moth hunting. Being up on the roof for a number of reasons. Seeing Grandma Helen in the window looking down at her book. The Christmas tree in the window. I could go on for another 300 pages. Time. Surrender to it.

Oh boy, Webmaster is fired up! Get this, Barry's relative is living in a mud hut on a dollar a month. If Barry sent him just one dollar a month it woud make his bro a rich man. Typical liberal hypocrits, they say the want to "help the poor" but do they have any poor people for Thanksgiving dinner? Just a bunch of phonies. Will Barry invite his bro to DC to have dinner with him? yeah, I bet!

When talking to a man in Wal-Mart, I asked him if his family was going to do a turkey for Thanksgiving. He replied that his family was out of work and they had nothing to be thankful for. He was just a young man and as I left the store, I noticed that he got into a new Dodge Ram truck with all the bells and whistles on it. Now, I do not equate a new truck with Thanksgiving. But I thought as he drove away, what do we all have to be thankful for? Well my dear children, we live in the greatest country in the world. And if that isn’t enough, we have FREEDOM. Yes, freedom is more important than anything else. Unless you have visited another country overseas, you can never know what freedom is all about. We Americans take freedom for granted. It is like our heart. We forget it until it stop’s. So if there is nothing else to be thankful for, when you sit down at your Thanksgiving dinner, thank God for everything you have, and never say you have nothing to be thankful for. All my love, your Dad

It is HARD TIMES! But, we all have much to be thankful for. We have each other and we can still are able to gather together to thank the Lord’s blessing. We have our health, well some of us do. But, what will happen to us all with this terrible financial mess? Think it is bad now? Well my dear children it will get worse. Does anyone know what to do? The “conventional brains” in Washington, just do this, and do that, and what they think will work today is dumped in favor of a new fix tomorrow. The Government is in the housing business, and the mortgage business and the banking business, and I bet the democrats will bail out the auto business. Can you imagine a car designed by the government? What the hell is next? Some are thinking about raising the gas tax. Will the government soon tell us how often we can flush the toilet? Why not? But in the midst of all this turmoil, the sky is still blue and birds still mate and God is in Heaven, all’s well with the world. So, my dear children, enjoy your Thanksgiving wherever you are and whom ever you are with. Love always, your Dad

Some think that my conclusions are wrong. But listen to this one. Who is responsible for the world financial disaster? The Democrats are. You know that two plus two is four. Right? Well here goes. The United States is being blamed for the world financial disaster, believe it or not. But who is responsible for the financial disaster the United States today? It is the Democrats. Here is my take. The Democrats kept pushing the Fannies to take sub- prime mortgages and the Fannies kept pushing the banks to accept sub- prime loans. Before long there were so many sub- prime loans and mortgages that they could not be paid back. Why did the Democrats push sub- prime loans? It was their liberal philosophy. The poor people, oh the poor, poor people. Everyone deserves a home. Didn’t matter whether or not they could repay those loans, give them a house! Yes, GIVE it to them. They deserve a house. Everyone deserves a house. It was a house of cards. There were many warnings. It was years out there. Some listened to the warnings. Most did not. Why get off the train when the ride is so much fun? Then things started to go down. It just kept going down hill. And it has not reached rock bottom yet. So, if the Democrats are responsible for the financial crash in the US, and the US is responsible for the world financial crisis. Then ipso facto, the Democrats are responsible for the world financial disaster. Refute that one. I dare you. But, do it on the Guest Book so everyone will see it.

HAPPY HOLIDAY! Some cities are removing the word, CHRISTMAS from their ceremonies. Hey STUPID! It is CHRISTMAS. You know, CHRIST MASS. How tragic that political correctness and a bunch of Jerkoff’s from the ACLU and atheists have destroyed, or are trying to destroy the most important aspect of our Nation. Go back to the Constitution of the United States and Read, ENDOUED BY OUR CREATOR… What does that mean? Huh? Are we so warped by our hatred for Christianity that they are willing to destroy it? Disgusting! What is happening to our Nation? IN GOD WE TRUST. Can’t we get the picture? I fear for the future of our Nation. It will never be destroyed from without. But, from with in. Now, a socialist in the White House and happy Holiday from the politically correctness crowd, rather than MERRY CHRISTMAS. What is next? Well, next it will be a “holiday tree”. Disgusting! Pitiful! So you don’t believe in God. Take your belief and shove it. MERRY CHRISTMAS. MERRRY CHRISTMAS. If you don’t believe that means CHRIST’s MASS, then stop giving CHRISTMAS PRESENTS. Do not put up a CHRISTMAS TREE. You know where you can put your happy holiday. MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR

Those of you who voted for the boy, (you know who you are) are no doubt gloating these days. Ha ha, the Republicans are in disarray. They are churning around, trying to figure out what they are going to do next. Well, the Republicans can only blame themselves that the boy is going to sit in the White House. Do you suppose we will have to call it (the black house?) Our candidate for president could not have been worse. He was a looser when he ran the first time. And he was a looser this time. What a weak, lusterless person. He is an old man, with old man ideas. He was never the candidate of the Republican base. He was an “alternate candidate.” The media made him. The media wanted him to run so he could loose. He is just a RINO. During the debates, he looked lake a moderate. That is another name for a “namby pandy” Democrat. So, the Republicans must reexamine themselves. No, we cannot adopt the liberal ideas. We must go back to where we came from. Only half of the people voted for the boy. The rest of the country is conservative. But the Republicans must get a message that those people can and will support. We must get rid of the old Republican congress people. We have congressmen who are as liberal as the Democrats. They must be purged from the Party. There are “Young Turks” out there and Sarah Palin and Bobby Jindal are just a few. They must get smart and strong and well known. So the future seems unsure. But we will survive. With a Democrat Congress and a Democrat in the White House, we are in for some terrible times. But when the pendulum swings one way, it will and must swing the other way. It may not happen during my lifetime, but I am optimistic. Be brave; try to cultivate Conservatism in your children and your associates. MAY GO DBLESS AMERICA!

Despite what some think, I do not trust the boy. He has said and done things in his life that make me fear the future. If he accomplishes just a few of his liberal /socialism ideas, we are in for one of the worst administrations the American people have ever known. He will make the Jimmy Carter administration seem like prosperity plus. You may not remember the Carter years when interest rates were almost 19%. The boy has cleverly obscured his real thoughts and aspirations, but never the less if one listened carefully it was evident that he is a socialist. Take from those who have and give it to those who do not? DO you want the government to do that? I think not. It is the words of Marx. Everything the boy is for, I am against. Who knows what he plans for the financial crisis in The United States? What will he do about the security of the Nation? The Middle East? North Korea and China? Not to mention, Russia? Is he not going to install liberal Federal Judges on the Court? They will influence our laws for the rest of your life. And his social approach to every thing is abhorrent to me. No, I do not trust the boy and I believe that the American People have made the biggest mistake that have ever been made. I FEAR FOR THE FUTURE. I am going to train Buddy to bite any Democrat that enters my home.

Sir Conor Knight Errant A handsome knight named Conor, Strapped on his mighty sword. Then, he slew the “magic dragon”, He dispatched him for his Lord. When Sir Conor dons his armor, With his helmet upon his head. His dagger hangs there by his side, His enemies, they all dread! All the people know Sir Conor, He is their shinning knight. To his King, Conor is the warrior, Who will fight to preserve the right! So, if you ever need a warrior, Sir Conor will soon appear. And he will slay your Magic Dragon, He is your knight errant, it is clear. By Joseph R Bowman 1 October 2008 I dedicate this poem to Sir Conor Thomas Roberson. The King must look for brave young men To be his Knight’s Errant. These young men, study the principles of Knighthood. They train, sometimes alone, sometimes With other’s like him. When their training is completed, the Knights Serve their Country. Perhaps Sir Conor will be One of these knights someday! JRB

Every once in a while, the American People take an enema. Look what came out! I remember Jimmie Carter. Then there was Billy Clinton. And now there is Barry Obama. I used to have faith in the American People, but this morning, I lost it. There is so much on our plate today and regardless of who won last night, it would be rough sailing for the next four years. But Barry Obama? What were the American People thinking of? I am glad that I am a short timer. You my children will have to suffer through him. In a way, it was good the Democrats won last night. Because the financial condition of our country is terrible to say the least. Let Obama fix that! For a while he will be able to blame everything on George Bush. But let Obama fix the financial problems. Let him take the blame for what goes wrong. Let Obama fix the terrible conditions in the Middle East. Let Obama bring our troops home and see what effect it has on the Middle East. Let Obama resolve all the terrible problems around the world. Russia and North Korea and China. Let Obama fix Social Security. Social Security was the third rail in politics. But Social Security is on the brink of failure. Let Obama fix it. And then there is Medicare and education and on and on. Let Obama fix those problems. Let Barry bring us together. He said he would. Let Obama bring us together. And what of the Republicans? Where was their leadership? Why did we loose? What were they for? McCain was never a Conservative. McCain was never a real Republican. He was just a RINO. His campaign was a disaster. No wonder Barry won. McCain trashed the Republican base at ever turn. It is all too terrible to think about now. FUBAR Like Scarlet O’Hara, I will think about it tomorrow. Oh I will go for a walk with Buddy. At least he and I can talk.

WE VOTED! yOU CAN SEND IN YOUR ABSENTEE BALLOT and you can vote early. But I love to go to the polling station and present myself. I wish we had to dip our finger into a bucket of red paint. I could hold up my red finger and be proud to be an American. So,it is done, for better or worse. I don't mind telling you that I voted for McCain/Palin. Of course, who else. We didn't have to stand in a line to vote. We went right in and did our thing. I am not listening to radio or watching TV. It is too late to be glued to the media rip up the Republicans. In my opinion, we didn't pick the best man for our candidate. He was a slow starter. He just doesn't sparkle like the boy does. But John had themedia and every black inthe country on the boy's side. So, if we loose, it was almost a foregon conclusion. Remember my formula? 75% of the people are ignorant. That means they ignore the facts. So, even if the media had told the people about the boy, it would not have mattered. Some people are so ignorant that they would not believe the building was on fire, if it was.

There is a time in any operation when you think you have done it all and it is time to act. But, you have always forgotten something. There is always some small detail that you have neglected to check. That is how I feel today. Tomorrow, it will all GO DOWN, for better or worse. American has changed so much in the past 78 years. I wanted to tell you all about that yesterday. But it was neither the time nor place. Then too, I know where you are. You know who you are. I could not say one more thing that would change your mind. You may have already voted. IN the old days, there was not absentee ballot. There was no thought of voting illegally. People were more respectful then and fearful of the law. We were a nation of laws. Today we are a nation of men. At least we have come around to think that way. I could go on and on but you would get tired of reading. I have given it my best shot. I have told you all of the arguments and you have made up your mind. You may have done the say with your family. What will be, will be. Like me, you probably will be tired of the election by now. As you know, on Wednesday morning, we may or may not know who our new president is. It will be time to either sigh and cry, or cheer. But, you will not be free of me because I will not keep my mouth shut. And I will not stop writing. This Actnuts is a great form. It is history and it is a way, perhaps the only way, to express yourself. If “we” survive, if the family survives, if future members of our family survive, and perhaps some of them read my words, then I will have done my job. At least those future members of our family will know that someone told the story, and they will be able to hear the truth.

We will soon be learning the new economics. Here is how it may go. Jim Brown has worked hard all of his life. He has a small business and he works about 16 hours a day just keeping his head above water. Jim’s wife Honey works outside the home also. She has a small business and she struggles every day, solving the problems of a falling economy, taxes and all the problems a business person has. And then she has her family to worry about. They have two cars because they must drive their kids to school and they also use their cars in their business. Then, there is Leroy, he also works hard. He is a high school drop- out and he has three jobs just to put food on the table. Leroy does not have a car. He would like a car to get to work, but he just does not have the money to buy a car. So, he rides the bus to work. He even uses a bike to ride to one of the jobs. Leroy’s wife, Matilda, works at home. She has five little children and can’t leave her kids to go to a job. The government notices this inequity and takes steps to resolve it. Here’s the new economics. Since Jim and Honey Brown have two cars, the government is going to take one of the Brown’s cars and give it to Leroy. That is fair isn’t it? Is it right that one has more than the other?

What would this world be without women? We cave men would have killed each other millions of years ago. What would have there been to curb our anger? Who would have cried and made us sorry that we broke things and might have thrown the baby out with the bath water? Who would have cleaned the cave and put things in order and kept the fire burning till the old man came home drunk? Who, just ask yourself.
