Wow Hunter! I have had a bunch of teachers come up to me and tell me what an awesome student you are. Mr. Perego said you were a shining star last night at the band concert. Mr. Armstrong said you were one of 5 students at Raa to score a high level 5 on your Fcat. Many others also remarked on your grades and behavior all year. Thanks for being the best boy ever!!!

What an awesome day today. We bounced all over the Gulf of Mexico. Waves and swells bobbed us here and there. Hunter caught a big shark but no one took a picture. So all we have to prove it is Kurt and me. Erik caught a big Cobia (26 lbs) and his friend Amber (not the Bowman one) tried to gaff it on board. It was the highlight of the day and happened the last hour before we broke off and raced back to the marina. Erik did a exhausting job bringing the fish to the boat and he is a great fisherman. It was quality time for one and all. Thank you Kurt and Hunter for a wonderful day.

I often wonder as I scribble on the guestbook, why others do not record their thoughts. When I start my day, I first go to Drudge, then to my e- mail and then to the guest book to see what others may have written. But most of the time, there is nothing. Some day in the future, someone may also wonder, where the others were. Lack of interest? too busy? have nothing to say? I wonder also.

Everytime you think you are a big one that cannot be replaced, think of this... "Life is but a walking shadow, a poor player who struts and frets his hour upon the stage and then is heard no more. It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing." William Shakespeare

Hey you Boomers, here is a problem for you. First, you know that “illegal’s” often steal social security numbers. Who knows how it is done? Ours was stolen some time ago to use our credit card and steal a lot of electronic gear. That blemish is still on our records and will probably haut us the rest of our life. Well, now you know that social security numbers are stolen. Who steals them? Let us take Jose, who is an illegal. He needed a social security number to get a job and so he used a social security number that had been stolen (yours) to get that job. Course, you did not know that your social security number had been stolen. Jose works for John and John collects social security money from Jose. John also has to pay into the social security system for Jose. (It’s the law) So, let us say that Jose retires first and begins drawing social security money. (Your money) You probably know that two people cannot draw social security payments. Since Jose retired first, what happens when you retire and expect to draw your money? Huh? So, why does the government not get crackin’ on this thorny problem? Answer is, they don’t want to. Illegals pay into the social security fund and most (unless they have stolen your number) do not get the money they have put into the fund. So, who makes out? The Government, as usual of course. Well, you didn't expect to draw social security anyway did you?

Next time you hear a liberal complain about the gas prices, tell them that the oil companies get a small share of that price. The gas station operater gets even less. But, The Government gets the biggest bite in taxes. What does the government do to earn that money? Think about what it costs to bring one gallon of gas to the pump. Liberals do not want to explore for oil in NANWAR or the Gulf of Mexico. If you want to blame a liberal, blame Senator Bill Nelson. If we are dependent upong the Middle East for oil, blame the liberals. That is spelled, DEMOCRAT.

Our family circle is shrinking. We used to have a roomful. You used to drive all the way over to Niceville and you slept over. And you all sat around our table. We used to meet midway at Falling Watters. Those days are memories. That will never happen again. There were children everywhere. Now Barbra is gone and the little children have grown up. When we are gone, will you still get together? Will there still be a family circle? What will be the reason for getting together? When the parents are gone and the children are gone, what will be the reason to get together? Things change. Life moves on. Ever wonder why you see pictures of a family posed together in the flea market?

Are you green? What is your carbon footprint? Do you know? Do you care? Do you know any moron who believes in global warming? It is the biggest hoax perpetuated upon the American public. About 25 years ago, the public was worried about global cooling. The world was going to freeze over. Now the ice is going to melt and all the cities along the oceans will be flooded. In Australia, there is a plan to evacuate more than ½ of the population because of drought. What did Chicken Little say? “The world is falling!” Do you know any liberals? It is important to hear both viewpoints. But when you hear what liberals think, you will want to hide. Listen to NPR and hear what crap is broadcast over the airways everyday by total morons. You are paying for it.

As we watched Alexander, suddenly, Conor put his arm around me and hugged me. It was one of the most memorable times in my life. I know that he loved me. It was so intimate an expression that I will never forget it. It is so evident that Barbra is teaching Conor how to display his love. Later, I heard Barbra call to Conor. "I love you!" Conor replied, "How do you know?" At four years of age, Conor was learning how to display his love. Yes, we teach our children how to love and just as importantly how to display our love. Beleive it or not, some children do not know how to love or to display their love. They have never been taught. Perhaps, the parents never knew themselves, how to love or display their love, for one reason or the other. Perhaps there were too many children in the family and their parents did not have time to teach their children. Knowing how to love and how to express it is passed on from parents to child. Love is just as important as morals and ethics. Learning never stops

Not everything you say requires an answer. Most of the time it is better to just zip your lip and keep your thoughts to your self. It is better to be thought stupid than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAMA. Thank you for all your service to your family and to me over these many years. Being your husband and friend for the last 74 years has been an experience I would not have missed. We have seen it all and done it all and we are still going strong. How did we survive it all? Frankly, I don't know. It has taken a lot of hard work. Little did we know where we would go on that evening outside 12 South Park in Philipsburg when we decided to get married. We sure did not know much about each other. After all this time, I am still learning. I could have done better as a husband and father, but, I didn't. You did better than anyone could have imagined. So here we are still learning and still loving and fighting and arguing and laughing and crying, yet we some how stay together. I love you more than life and wish you a happy birthday. The glass is half full. Your only Joe

For almost a week, I didn't watch the news on TV. I did not watch TV. I did not listen to the radio. I did not read the newspapers. I did not know or care who killed cock robbin. And, I was extremely happy because of it. You should try it some time. During the week, I talked with brave men from the Marine Corps who had been in combat the same as I have been. It was great to inteligently discuss the war with men who had also been shot at by the enemy. One helicopter pilot was a real hero who had been decorated for heroism in Bosnia and now flies an Osprey. There were no "headquarters pukes" in the place. The wives were also real heroes. They support their men and can be called "Proud Spouses" Many have an insignia on their cars that proclaims that 1/2 of their hearts are in Iraq. What a thrill to be around such people.

Home again. Our trip back was fast but safe. We had a great time with Barbra and her family. Unfortunately, we will never go back to Camp Lejeune or Jacksonville again. Barbra and family will move on to Richmond this summer and a new assignment and a new life. One of the most memorable events in our visit was when Conor and I sat close and side by side, and watched the movie, Alexander. What awesome battle scenes. Thank you Barbra for a wonderful time. Love always, your only Dad. Thank you Shipleys's for all you have done for us while we were away. The roof looks great and the Canada Geese are nesting on top of the porch.
