Chief Justice of the Supreme Court John Roberts! Doesn't that have a nice ring to it? He is just fifty years old, so you will have him on our side for most of your life. He is probably the smartest, level headed justice in all the history of the Supreme Court. He is the seventeenth Chief Supreme Court Justice in the history of the United States. Think of it! It is an historical moment. Even a number of Democrats who despise our President voted for Chief Justice Roberts. Why? well they intend to crush the next nominee to the Supreme Court. Let em try. I hope our President nominates Janice Rogers Brown to replace Sandra Day O'Connor. Let the Dems try to smash a black woman. As I listened to the swearing-in process this afternoon, there were tears in my eyes because of this wonderful beautiful country of ours. The Constitution has been tried so many times and every time it proves to be the most perfect document ever written by mortal man. Long live the Republic!

Be careful where you park. People are draining gas from gas tanks. Some puch into your tank. Others open your gas tank door and use a plastic tube. Life in the modern age? Hell no, I did that all the time in Vietnam. I even had my own special plastic tube. Pull up to another vehicle preferable a truck and in a few minutes I am topped off and on my way. What is old, is new.

911 and Katrina were shakedowns to disaster plans in the USA. In many ways the plans worked, but there glitches. That is the purpose of a shakedown. Find out where the problems are and solve them. Best of all, we showed the world that Americans can and will do what is necessary to resolve major disasters. Americans also got a chance to see what they could do. It's is too bad that so much damage had to be done, but some day, it may help us solve an even greater disaster.

This afternoon, Mama and I took Conor to the playground at Tom Brown Park. On the way home, we stopped by to go through the Animal Shelter. How sad to see such beautiful dogs waiting for someone to adopt them. I wonder if there is a shelter somewhere for the little humans. When we got home, I brought Conor in and he slept in my arms for almost two hours. I thought, how soon an opportunity like this will fade away. Conor is getting so big and tall. He is a baby in many ways but he is a big boy in his estimation. When I look at the pictures that Kurt has archived I see our Grandchildren who we hugged and read to and walked with and now they are grown and looking forward to their own life. I can tell you, being a grandparent is a wonderful experience. We have loved every moment of it and when we see pictures of yesterday it is a sudden rush of memory. And we smile and think, we had a part in their developement, and we are proud of them.

Sunday Morning and all is well. There are more hurricanes out there in the warm water of the Atlantic and I hope not one of them has Tallahassee on its' list. The damage on the Gulf Coast is terrible. It will take years to recover, but recover it will. The old land marks where Leona and Rudy and Mama and I used to go are gone forever, Rudy is gone and I am too sick to travel, so, the Mardi Gras is just a memory. Live it up while you can for too soon it is over. Soon it will be October and this is my time of the year. Cool at night and warm in the sun during the day. Hey Kurt! How are you today? I know you are working today because it is the end of a month. I bet you are breaking records in sales these days. I miss you but I know you have big responsibility. Enjoy! Today, Conor will be with us again while his mom and Nina go to see Steel Magnolias. We sure enjoy our baby. Well he isn't a baby any longer and no one had better call him one. Have a good Sunday. Hey all of you out there who are lucky to read the Guest book in Actnuts. Some people say they do not believe in God (you know who you are). Well, I have watched the hurricane news on Fox today and I can tell you that many people who were interviewed say they pray to God to protect them. Others say they trust in God to keep them safe. I haven't heard any one say they don't believe in God. I haven't heard anyone say that Wicca will protect them. Seems that people in great danger revert to God when they need someone to save them.

Derek is gone. He departed this morning. Conor asked his daddy if he could go along, but Derek told him no, "You must stay here and take care of your Mom." I told Kim that when he was just a little boy. History repeats it's self. Derek returns to Iraq along with thousands of other members of The armed Forces who came home on R& R for two weeks. How well I remember my R&R in Hawaii with Mama. What a wonderfully beautiful young woman she was. We fell in love again on one of the most beautiful places on earth. Then like the others who were on R&R, we said goodbye and went our separate ways. She went back to Green Cove Springs FL. and I went back to Vietnam. Life is strange. Who ever thought that Derek and Barbra would be doing the same things that Mama and I did? Now comes the long wait.I am so proud of Derek for it is he, and those like him, who defend this beautiful country of ours and make it safe for the rest of us. It doesn't seem that he was ever here. But Conor and Barbra will remember.

When I was fifteen, World War Two had ended and Japan as well as Europe lay in ruins. Just watching the pictures on the news at the local theater was enough to make one ill. Pessimistic people would have said that it was impossible to rebuild the desolation that was everywhere. But Americans are optimistic people and they rolled their sleeves up and went to work. It was called the Marshall Plan and over the next ten years a miracle occurred. The job would take another ten years but little by little the job got done. Yes, New Orleans will be rebuilt. The slums will not be rebuilt. New homes will be built. Lives will be improved. Maybe the crooks who used to rule the city will not get a place to live. But they usually survive. We used to go to the Mardi Gras in New Orleans with Rudy and Leona. Maybe some of you will go to the biggest party on earth but I don't think we will get there again. Memeories.....

Dearest Kurt, I know what you are thalking about. We are never fully fulfilled until we are parents and see our children grow and increase in intelligence and ability. It is also a glimpse of our own mortality. Life goes on and we grow older so that some day our children can assume their own position in life. It is beautiful and if it does not bring tears into our eyesa we are not very compassionate. Pride, love, admiration and wonderment. Did we make him? yes... in a way, but he is also his own person.

Talking about career trajectory, Judge John Roberts is only 50. He has risen through the ranks to be so good that the President has nominated him to be the Top Supreme Court Justice. If he is approved by the Senate, Judge Roberts will be the 17th Supreme Court Justice. In the meanwhile, a bunch of stupid moron liberal dummycraps are asking questions of Judge Roberts that only make him look great and them look like stupid morons. But that is beside the point. The judge is absolutely brilliant. If approved, he will have at least 30 more years as the top member of the Supreme Court. That will just about make him the top man in Justice during your lifetime. Appointment of Supreme Court judges is the most important duty of a President of the USA. Thank goodness our President is George W. Bush. Can you imagine john kerry as our President!

When I was a litle boy, our family (that is the Bowmans's and the Enterline's) had a big family reunion every year. The reunion was held up at Elizabethville, about five miles from Millersburg. The reunion was a time to meet and greet members of the family. Transportation and communication were far from what we have today. One of the reasons for the reunion was to see the babies that were born since the last reunion. Then the "old timers" were interested in those who had died since the last reunion. It all brings to mind the trend that seems to be prevalent in our little family. Unless there is some communication by phone or physically coming together, this web site is one of the best means of finding out what is going on. But I fail to see some members of the family in the Actnuts guest book. I am wondering why. Are they busy? BS no one is too busy to read their mail. Can you imagine not picking up your mail? Not every day, but never? Come on folks. Actnuts is the best means of recording our families' history. Get off your butts and check this web site as frequently as you can. Well I guess that is only if you care what is going on. Yesterday, I came home listening to the most beautiful music that man ever wrote. When I got in the garage, I just shut off the motor and leaned back in my comfortable Toyota seat and listened to the music until I was almost in rapture. All of a sudden, I heard someone pounding on my window. It was Nina, of course. I guess she actually thought I might have offed myself. Well I recovered rapidly and soon got out of the car. But, the moral of the story is, let's say I had gone to Heaven. Well the music was so great I might have. But if I had, and the news was put in Actnuts, some of you would not know for a long while and some might never know. Now that I am going to be 75 next month, I intend to say anything I want to withiut holding back. If you don't believe me, watch out. It will be interesting to see if anyone reads this.

Career Trajectory! Have you ever hear of that term? We just watched FOX news and heard Rear Admiral Allen who is now the HMFIC in New Orleans. All of a sudden his career trajectory went higher. If it had not been for the hurricane he might have kept being a Rear Admiral. We all have our moment in the spot light. For some it is to fix that car before 5 O' clock. That is important also because if that car belongs to you, the mechanic is more important than any rear admiral. Everything is relative. We all have career trajectories. Some are higher than others. Most peopole have career trajectories are not much higher than a man's head. But before we look down on those citizens, remember that it is they who fight the wars. It is those grunts who do the heavy lifting. They carry out the orders that others give them. Judging from the success of our beautiful Nation over the past three hundred years, I would say that the peope on the bottom of the career trajectory have done pretty darned good. Without them, this world would be in bad shape. Picture our Armed Forces with a lot of generals but without troops. How about General Motors with a bunch of high rollers at the top and no mechanics. I could go on and on, but you get the point. I think I will add the term career trajectory to my lexicon.

What do people do when they are warned over and over again that a disaster will take place? Ans: THEY OFTEN DO NOTHING! Disasters are not new to us. When I was a little boy, my Grandmother Aggy read to me from a book entitled the Galveston Hurricane. It even had pictures of the destruction. I decided to look it up since my memory is fading these days. Yes, there are many articles and books on the Galveston Hurricane. The hurricane did not have a name as they do today. There was no sophisticated weather service like we have today to show when and where the hurricane might strike. But there were warnings. People were told to seek higher ground. They did not. They chose to stay and see "the big waves." Well, they saw them and most of them died. In fact, 8000 people perished as a result of the terrible storm. The hurricnae that struck Galvestorn was a category 4. Sound familiar? The wind reached 130 MPH. The destruction that destroyed Galveston was known as the "Worst Disaster in American History." Sound familiar? Well, we now know that history repeats its' self. The people of New Orleans knew that some day, yes, "some day" a hurricane would come to test the defenses of New Orleans against a category 3 hurricane. Why didn't they demand a levy be constructed to withstand a category 4 hurricane? It is like the story we all know too well. The roof does not leak unless it rains. Everyone forgot the lesson on history. Of Galveston. Well they are paying the terrible price now. No, we all are paying because we did not learn that those who do not remember the lessons of history are doomed to repeat them. Is there another disaster looming out there for us?

Today is the anniversary of 911. Most Americans do not show that they care. There are few flags on cars and homes, or bumper slogans calling for us to remember 911. I guess Americans have a short attention span. If it isn't concluded in an hour (less advertisements) it isn't worth remembering. Be sure to watch the Discovery special tonight at 9PM that tells the story of the last airliner that crashed on 911 in Pennsylvania after a struggle. If you have the opportunity to see thee FX special entitled Inside 911, be sure to watch. It is great and will cause the viewer to think. It should have been the result of a media investigation but they were more interested in a lost blond down in Aruba.

We are living through history. It is there on TV and the radio. It is in New Orleans and Biloxi and along the roads leading into and out of New Orleans. Some day you or your children will read about the great huricane of 05 that destroyed the Gulf Coast. Anyone who watches the terrible drama on TV must be touched. Progress is taking place but to the poor people who are waiting for something to happen to them, it is tragic beyond words. But it is hurricane season and there are potential storms out there churning around and being steared toward the USA. There are great lessons to be learned for the events of this week. To some, no to many, they will nevr forget what happened because wrong decisions were made years ago.
