Kurt, I can't tell you how much I love Actnuts. I think it is one of the greatest accomplishments you have done. The pictures and your captions are a history of the family. The kids are too young to appreciate the wealth of information that Actnuts contains but some day when they are older, they will see the wonderful record of our lives. Train someone to do the heavy lifting when you are no longer able. I love you so much, Your dad

10 hours to vacation! This is the first time I can remember taking vacation and not leaving town. If you type in "vacation" in the actnuts search engine you will see that we usually go mobile. This time however, we will stay in town and vegatate. Of course I plan on eating out every night and every morning. And if you think I will sit still for a moment you are dead wrong. I am a man of constant movement. I am a man of action. I am the webmaster of actnuts. I am heading towards 50 years old fast. Gotta go...

What a great weekend off we had! Hunter and Amber both had friends spend Saturday night at our house. Sunday Christy and I looked at property in the upcomming subdivision called Centerville. We picked out a lot we both liked on a lake called Amber lake! In the evening Christy took Amber to her swim banquet where Amber was given many awards including Most Valuable Swimmmer! Amazing! What a great day!

What a beautiful autumn day! Mama and I went to the Black Dog Cafe down by Lake Ella. We sat under the live oak trees and listened to music by live bands. It reminded me of our good times in Austria and Germany. Different people, but really the same. Life is great! Love to you all...

Happy Veterans Day! Freedom isn't free. It is paid for with the blood of heroes. Our hero is Captain Derek Roberson. He is defending our Nation in Iraq so that we may go about our business here in the USA without fear. From the beginning, members of our family have served their country in the Armed Forces. First came Chris Shontz who served his country in the Pennsylvania Volunteers during the Civil War. Next came Warren Shontz who served his country in World War Two. I served my country in the US Army in the Viet Nam War. Claude Shipley served his country during the Cold War.

What an exciting weekend. and somehow Amber squeezed in a haircut and a trip to the mall.

Thanks for the party. It was great having everyone over to visit. Noteable quote: Meme approached me and said that she was almost exactly twice my age. I asked her which was better, her first 40 years or the next. She said..."the first". I was hoping she would have given me some encouragement. Oh well. It was a surprise to have the neighbors set off 10 minutes of fireworks.

AH Kurt, how well I remember the busy years. Being a young person is such an exciting time. Seeing new things, experiencing new events and meeting new people... and they are so busy. I can see the light in their eyes, and...I envy them. Too soon it is gone and the earning years take over and too soon they are gone also and then the twilight years arrive and every day is Friday. Enjoy all of it, for it too is soon gone.

My daughter, the social butterfly, gave to me a hug whispering, "I never see you". Tonight she went to the movies with her swim pals and tomorrow she goes to her third homecoming dance. I told her I would wake her on Sunday morning at 5:30 to go to breakfast. Her priorities are out of whack. I recall balancing time with my own father. Parents are so high maintenance.

I am so glad October is over! Time to press on into November. I can only hope that everyone stays healthy and happy. I guess there is not much we can do about our health. We should have thought about that years ago. We can make a decision to be happy. One of my favorite books is "Mans search for meaning" by Viktor E. Frankl. He tells it like it is. We can make a choice to be happy or wake up and go to work in the morning. Help me jesus.
