Dear Actnuts, Kurt had lunch with his parents today. What a great experience! Last evening Kurt brought a detailed sketch of my home town, Millersburg, Pa. dated 1894. Many of the familiar buildings were in place. My home at 317 Center Street was plainly shown. My Dad and his parents had not moved from Powells Valley by 1894. Yet, the house on 317 Center Street was where it was when I was born. Kurt also brought several post cards that showed famous buildings and sights that were familiar to me.

If you like cold weather, you can go north anytime. Take a friend with you and stay up north. I am watching the blizzard up in the north east and I can remember being is many a blizzard in nice places like Austria, Germany and Korea. Snow is great until you have to be out in it 24 hours a day. Buddy and I went for a long walk today and it was cold (55degrees) that is why I am living here in Tally. Next week, spring time wll return and I will just love it. Life is great. I am proud to be a Southerner

Johnny Carson is dead at 79. He was a giant. I fear there are few giants left. But every generation thinks theirs is the only one. Ask kids today if they remember Johnny Carson. They never heard of him. Johnny was television when it was in its infancy. Johnny ranks with the greats like Frank and Jimmy and their ilk. But wnen they go, and they will all go just as we will also, there will be no replacement. The famous people these days are a flash in the pan. They come and they go and they do not make a ripple let alone a wave. But those of us who knew Johnny, for he was TV, will remember as long as we live. The giants will live on in re-runs on late night TV. So, goodnight Johnny.

Dear Actnuts, Yesterday was Inauguration Day in the United States. It was an important event that happens every four years. Yesterday was notable in that George W. Bush was elected to run a second term as President of the USA. Yesterday was so very unusual in the world because so few other countries are able to change their national power without bloodshed. Some nations are ruled by dictators. Still other rulers have come to power by a Coup. So, Mama, Conor and I were glued to the TV all day. FOX news channel did a magnificent job of covering the story. This was the second big event for Conor. He is not yet three years old but he has gone to the voting booth on Election Day and now he watched our President being sworn in on Inauguration Day. What ever else he does in his life, at least he will have begun properly by being a Republican. Life is great, life is good. I love you all, Dad

Hey Actnuts! I am back. Still weak and unsteady on my feet. In the hospital, my doctor put a new stent in my heart and did an angioplasty in my renal artery. How mush longer can this go on? If it lasted I would be happy, but I know that is not goning to happen. I want to thank all of you for coming to the hospital and wishing me well. A good cheering section is essential to a winning team. I love you all. Thanks for taking care of your Mama. Love, Dad

Hi everyone, It was great to be able to help you Amber to celebrate your birthday and to visit with everyone. Dinner was nice and it is always pleasant to be out on your patio and see your pretty back yard. Hope you all are having a good week. It seems to be a busy one for Grandpa and I. I will keep you informed or you can call one of us. It probably will be two long days but I feel sure that Grandpa will do well with it all. Love and Hugs.

We had a very enjoyable time tonight celebrating Amber's birthday. Good luck with your curly hair----that's too much work for me. You received a lot of nice presents; your Mom is most brave with the offer to assist with driving lessons. The rest of the gang was a blast to be with and listen to tall tales about our past. My accordian picture is not goofy Barbra:>)

Kurt, I want to thank you for being web-master to Actnuts. The pictures and the comments in the guest book are priceless. What a wonderful history book of our family. I am glad that some of the members of our family are beginning to realise how important Actnuts is to all of us. Perhaps some day, some child, yet unborn, will read the comments and see the pictures and perhaps better understand what we were and what we did. Thank you once more. I love you. Dad

Kurt, the pictures are awesome. This is the way we looked in 2004. Take more pictures and send them to Kurt. I bet no other family has a wedsite like Actnuts. There are still many pictures that need to be taken. Remember, unless a paper trail or a picture is left to record your life, what will remain except your offspring to tell who you were or what you thought. Love Dad

Dear Actnuts, It is good to see all of the new entries to the history of our fam,y. As the old folks used to say, "If you dont write, I can't answer." It ony takes a few minutes in our busy day to go to Actnuts and just say hey. Then again you might be surprised to see what is new. Then, having something to say is even nicer. If there is no paper trail, our descendants will never know what we did or what we thought. Kurt, I appreciate your efforts (often unappreciated) in keeping Actnuts current. Yes at times some members may wish that the format were different. But I know you aim to please and you are trying to make Actnuts user frinedly. By the way for those of you who have been absent. There are many new sections to Actnuts. Check out the people section and see if you have any pictures to add. Lots of love to one and all. Dad

Kurt: Lots of complaining from the troops about the set-up. Well if they don't like then start a campaign to see what they do like and then do what you want. Nina and I visited today to download pictures for Grandma---Grandma we have the shooting range pictures on CD so you can take them and our Christmas pictures to Wal-Mart to make photos of the ones you like.

Happy New Year. I'll have to visit more often as lots is happening. Will have to send some photos of Nina for the "blast from the past" section.

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2005. TODAY BEGINS THE FIRST DAY OF THE REST OF OUR LIFE. Have you made your resolutions? They say the most important resolution is to loose ten pounds. Wasn't that the same one that some made last year? None of you need to loose any pounds. So, What is next? How about do our best in the new year? Mama and I will be 75 in the new year. Think of that! We will all be a year older. Time marches on. What do I wish for in 2005? I wish that Derek stays safe in Iraq and that when his tour of duty is up, he returns to his family. I wish for health for Mama and me. I wish for the health of all of you. We have been so lucky for so long and I wish that streak continues for another year. I love you all and thank you for all you have done for Mama and me. Always, Dad
