2/7 I will update actnuts daily. I will workout daily. I will earn more money. I will live to be 115. I will never take prescription medication. I will jump down, spin around, pick a bail of cotton. |
Thank God this month is over! We hit all our objectives at work but not without blood, sweat and tears. Now it has to be repeated all over again. That is the life of a car guy. Vacation in 20 days! Yippie dippie doo!
Dear Actnuts, I think the most important thing a parent can do is spend "quality Time" yes, I repeat Q U A L I T Y time with their family. What do we really want from life? To me, it is to be remembered. No one will ever remember how much of this or that you sold. Your family will not long remember if you were voted man of the year or that your salary was six figures. But,your family will remember the time you taught them to drive. Or when you dove on a reef together and ate oysters on the rocks. Or that you read stories to them before they went to bed. What I am saying is that life is a series of memories, both good and bad. Memories of special (and many times) just ordinary events are the things that make your family remember you, long after you are gone. But even memories fade as years go by. So, take pictures. Write letters to your family and don't forget to include what you did with your family after a long day at the office. I only have a very very few faded pictures of me and my parents. Does it matter that my Dad spent every evening working late into the night on Post Office reports? But I do remember walking along the railroad tracks with my Dad and picking up coal that had fallen along the right of way. I will never forget my Mom for she spent so much time teachung me,reading to me and just being there for me. Mama is collecting literally hundreds of pictures and other memorabilia of events in the lives of you and our Grandchildren. Perhaps these photo albums will some day make members of our family remember what we did so long ago.
Dear Actnuts, I think that what is past is prologue. Since I was twelve years old, someone in our family have been in service to our country. During World War Two, I watched so many young men go off to war. I saw their families and their sweethearts cry and cheer and sometimes a band played. But more often, the darkened troop trains sped through Millersburg in the middle of the night. Then again during Korea it was repeated all over again. And Few Americans noticed or cared much the sacrifice their soldiers made to freedom. And at last it was my turn to leave. Twice I departed for the Far East to join our Armed Forces who fought against the Communists. And now, it is another generation's turn to fight the enemies of Democracy. Derek is gone and Barbra and her little family stood with the crowd of other wives and loved ones to see their son or husband or daughter depart for Iraq. And so, the long wait begins. Every day that Derek is gone I will pray for his safe return to us. Is there no end to war? PLato once said that only the dead have seen the end to war. God speed Derek. We are all waiting for your return. Stay safe. We love you.

Hi everyone. I decided to get my act together and check on actnuts. Sounds like everyone is doing great. That is wonderful. I would like to see Amber swim one of these times so please let me know when I can do that. It is nice to have cold weather again. Seems like a long time since we have all been together. Let's plan on a picnic the first warm day but please come by before that. I would like to see all the changes in your house Christy and Kurt. Let us know when you are home and have the time. Love to all.
What in the world did the doctors say? Good greif!
Dear Actnuts, I miss you. I woke up Thursday morning at 4AM and I was totally deaf in my right ear. What else will happen to me? My hearing is gone. The stereo is gone. I am just momo. Nina chewed me out for not calling the doctor sooner. I thought it would get better but it just got worse. I went to TENT this morning and I flunked the audio test in the right ear(I didn't even know words were being said). A my hearing is way down in the left ear. I am on steroids now so maybe I will get big muscles. Make every day count. The sweetest song is the one that has never been sung. The best and the sweetest love is the love you never knew. Good night Actnuts. Tomorrow will be better (I hope). I want to hear the birds again.
I love you Kurt!
I am so proud of my kids! Amber has started fresh in her new sport swimming and is doing great. Hunter is slamming the baseball. All the while excelling in school.
