Hey the website looks great. I sat and got caught up on all the sayings and doings. We had fun at work dressing up like Dalmations. I even had a tail. Conor you are a sweetie. Dad you need to set your marks for longer than 10 more years. You'll miss all the things that happen after 10 years. Love you!

I'ye just finished reading what grand pa wrote in the guest book about death and I see now that he has the answer to the question every one seems to be missing. It's not how long you live it is how you live! He has served his country and his family and for that I commend him. I only have one wish and that is to be as lucky as him. live it up GRAND PA!!!!
Happy Birthday Dad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LIBERALISM CONTINUED: “I am not sure of what my core beliefs are. First of all, I am foggy on what core means. Could you give me your ideas?” The young man addressed the wise old man. You are similar to many Americans. But it is not difficult to determine what you really believe, for that is what core beliefs really are. Take a sheet of clean paper and write CORE BELIEFS at the very top of the page. Below that, draw a large T on the paper. To the right of the vertical line write PRO. To the left of the vertical line write CON. Below the PRO, write all the topics you really believe in. The topics should be something like EDUCATION, SECOND AMENDMENT, LOW TAXES and anything else you really believe in. On the left side of the vertical line of the T write all the topics you are against. As an example you might write GUN CONTROL, HIGHER TAXES, ABORTION. Now, go back and examine each of the topics. On another page, take one page, and write the major topic that you really believe in. Below the major topic, write everything you can which explains why you believe in that topic. Be sure to include everything that causes you to believe in that topic. If you need more paper continue until you can’t think of another thing. Do the same thing with each of the major topics on the right side of the paper Next, take another sheet of paper and write the first of the major topics you do not believe in. Next write a narrative telling why you are against that topic. It is important that write down everything you can that makes you not believe in that topic. Do the same thing with each major topic that you strongly disbelieve in. When you are finished, review what you have read and when you are completely satisfied with your work, staple all the PRO’s together and do the same with the CON’s. Then, get manila folder and put all of your work in the folder and mark it CORE BELIEFS. Every six months take your work out and review the PRO’s and CON’s to see if you still believe in what you have said you did. That is how you determine what your CORE BELIEFS are.
Long live Joe Bowman!
Dear Family, We all know that someday we will die. To most of us that fact is a given. But few think about it. Death is too unpleasant to dwell on. It is something that will happen to some one else. Old people die. Death will punish people, who live a bad life. But the good guys rarely think about death. Some of us are warned that if we continue to lead a dangerous lifestyle, we will have to pay. And the hint is that we will be punished by death. But none of us are really bad guys and most of us lead a pretty good life. We love our parents and we love our kids and we love our neighbors. (That is if they are worth loving) So, what is so frightening to know when we are going to die? Yes, some of us will get some disease and die. Others will be killed in an auto accident. But that is thought to be (before their time). Still, those things happen to someone else. Not to us. We are the good guys. But my friend, deep down, every one of us knows pretty much when they will die. Are we going to live to be 100? Perhaps, but not really. Will we live to be 90? Maybe, but did you ever see anyone who lived that old? Read the obituaries in the newspapers. Check to see when people die. Recall when famous people die. How many live to be older than 85? I have seen so many people die that I sometimes feel like an expert on death. All of my Parents, Grandparents, Aunts and Uncles are dead. But many of my friends are also dead. In Viet Nam I saw many people die; men, women and children. Some soldiers have told me that after they have seen so many die, they loose their sensitivity to death. And to many combat soldiers, the dead are just objects. But I am different, I guess, and when I know the person, their death is significant. Stalin once said that one death is a tragedy, but that a million deaths are just a statistic. I can add to that the fact that when most persons I have known have died, it was a blessing to themselves and those who were their care- givers. Few die in their sleep after having a wonderful day. Some pray to die and many others were so ill for years that when they died, it was to stop the pain. The old folks used to say that when one died they were going to a better place. I don’t know about that but then who knows what happens after death. Perhaps the prospect of being reunited with our loved ones who have gone before is so great that dying is not the end, but a beginning. Wouldn’t that be great? But it takes a lot of faith to believe that after your bones are reduced to dust, your will somehow be reconstituted and look like you did when you were young. And then what of those who are cremated? So I logically expect that we are not going to meet our loved ones at some future time. And if that is true, is there a Heaven or hell? Will I grow wings someday and be an angel? So, when are going to die? Everyone has his or her own appointment with death. But for me, I am pretty sure that I will not make 90. When I look into the mirror in the morning I can hardly stand to see the reflection that stairs back at me. Everything looks pretty bad now and I hate to think of how bad it will get, as I grow even older. I can hardly hear any longer. I can’t see very well. My body looks more like a prune than anything else. I have so many physical ailments that surely one of them will kill me sooner than later Probably sooner. But how soon? That is the question. But, I still enjoy my life. I love our family. I still love nature and going out on the lake. I still love music and writing and reading and just being with my dearest wife. The excitement is still there. But I know my stamina is decreasing and I wonder how much longer I will be able to enjoy the things that mean so much to me. Thank goodness that all of the things I really like, are free. I used to love to ride motorcycle. I could not and would not enjoy it any more. I used to love to swim. But that is out for I don’t have the strength to swim. So, the system is shutting down little by little. I have had a good life and while I was alive, I lived. But, when it is my time to leave, I will be ready. I just hope that I don’t screw it up, for there is no second time. So, what is the object of this discourse? I guess the question is, how much longer do I have? Lets make it ten more years. So, that is not long to someone who has already lived over seventy years. So it’s ten years more? I can settle for that. What am I going to do with that time? I guess I will just enjoy life as much as I can while I can. I am going to love my family more and more with the understanding that I am living on borrowed time. I will enjoy the precious times that my Bea and I spend together. I will read and write and go to the lake and walk with my Buddy. I will savor the early mornings and the sunshine and the starry nights and the smell of rain. I will not keep a FIGMO calendar like I did in Viet Nam. I will focus on the present and recall the past and try to live a good life. More than that I cannot do. And when the call comes for me, I will go and not regret a single thing. Life has been great. And it is great and the empty space I leave in the ranks will be filled with our children and grandchildren.
I had a great time walking with the family at A.J Henery Park.aunt nina and I talked.Thank you for having me grandpa!
I am very excited about trick-or-treating with with amber and hunter also aunt christy, just like the good old days!
Congratulations Hunter! knew you were a fisherman when you hooked Buddy. (Dogfish) Persistance is the key to success. Keep fishing, and you will get that fish. Kurt, you did the right thing. Give Hunter one more cast and he will come home with the fish.
I took Hunter fishing this morning at Lake Killearn. We only had 30 minutes to fish so Hunter diligently tried to land one. 30 minutes went by and I told Hunter it was time to pack up. He pleaded to stay and I explained that I had to leave immediately so I would not be late to work. He asked nicely to stay for one more catch since he hadn't caught one yet. I agreed. Hunter cast one more time and wouldn't you know he landed a good sized bream!!!!!!!!!!!

Uncle Kurt can you put my halloween pictures on my name or archievs
After having dinner at Chow's Dynasty with the Shipley's last evening, Mama and I dropped by to visit the Roberson's. Terry and Tom were there, so we chatted and hugged on Conor. What a sweet little boy he is. Sarah appeared in her Halloween costume. See it in Pictures. She looks like a lady from Arabian Nights. What a beautiful girl. Adam and his friend slept out in their tent last night. Maybe Adam and Sarah will walk with us today during our traditional walk in the park. Life is GREAT!
Great pictures, Kurt. Who are those elders watching the game? I miss the pithy sayings that used to appear when Actnuts came on line. I wonder how many pople forgot to change their clocks to reflect fall back? What a nutty thing. How can one "save the daylight?"
This morning, Mama and I went to see Hunter play football. It was a foggy morning and we sat with Christy, Kurt and Amber. Hunter looked great in his uniform. Every hair was in place. Buddy loved the game but he didn't understand football. Good game Hunter! We love you.
Barbra, we love being with Conor. He is so sweet and what a handsome son you and Derek Have made. Lucky us, it won't be long till we have him more often. Kisses and hugs, Mama and Dad
OH if only I could spell! life needs a spell checker.

Kurt: Superb job with maintaining the website. The photos are well done and show what a great family we all are. Some people look like they've aged over the years and some don't----take your pick:>)

Kurt I like the new website. You sure do a greatjob and work to make it interesting. Now I need copies of all the photo's. It was great to see everyone yesterday. I did miss Adam and Sarah. Poor baby Conor sure gets a work out. Now that the weather is cooler I am hopig we can get together more often and be out doors. We could just snack if nothing else. Thanks for everyones help in making the part a success. I will check the calender and see what is next. Love you all and I thank you for the love you show to me.
Kurt, The new Actnuts is better than the last version. Now it behoves us (AL OF US) to get involved in sending our thoughts, ideas and most of all, picturs of our family. I have seen some great snapshots of Derek and Claude (not together) but there are others and their families should make it a priority to send you the pictures to be included in the picture gallery. Mama and I are still remembering the great reunion and birthday party we had at AJ Henry Park.
Kurt, The pictures are priceless. What a wonderful place to record our thoughts and remember good times. Perhaps someday, a hundred years from now, some one of our descendents may glance on these pages and have some idea of what their ancestors did and what they said and how they looked. Actnuts is History. I love you for making Actnuts available to us.
Gee Amber what a deva. Are your parents gonna let you out of their site for Halloween? See you all at the party.
Kurt, You better keep that girl in the closet for the next ten years.
You're a liberal if you voted democrat in the last two elections!
On Thursday, 17 October 02, Conor Roberson spent his first time (several hours) alone with Mama and Me. Barbra took Adam and Sarah to the movies and we baby- sat while they were gone. Conor was a perfect baby and slept most of the time. We enjoyed every minute of the event and loved seeing Conor smile and stretch. But when he wanted his milk that Barbra had expressed, Conor let us know that he did not like to wait. When Barbra and the kids arrived, Conor was glad to see his mama and we all sat down to dinner with Adam’s favorite food. (Roast- beef, potatoes and gravy) Now Mama and I are convinced that we are ready to take care of Conor while his mom goes to work. I expect many people our age might be terrified to care for a month old baby. Others might see it as interference in their boring lives. But Mama and I are anxiously looking forward to the opportunity. We love Conor and see this period in our lives as an opportunity that few are able to enjoy. Everyone likes to feel needed, and we know that Barbra will appreciate having us care for Conor. Life is great.
Dear Family, Wht beautifull weather we ar having. We better enjoy as I heard today that we are to expect a cold wet winter. In Florida. Just wanted to say that I love you one and all and looking forward to seeing you all at A.J. Henry Park tomorow about 4. If you want to know more give me a phone call.
LIBERALISM CONTINUED….”Aren’t you tired of ranting and raving about politics yet?” The young man laughed as he addressed the wise old man. “No my son, politics is in every phase of life. Even when you are young, politics is everywhere and it affects most everything you do.” “Well, how come you know so much about politics?” the young man sat down and prepared to listen. “When I was very young, I didn’t give a hoot about politics. My Dad got his hair cut once a week on Saturday morning, and he always took me with him. I sat on the floor for the seats were for grown ups, not kids. I always listened to the men talk about politics. The Depression was going on at the time and the big subject was FDR and the New Deal.” “ What’s that?” asked the young man. “FDR was Franklin Delano Roosevelt and he was president for most of my young life. And the New Deal was his slogan for the socialist welfare programs he was pushing. But lets get back to the politics. The men in the barbershop waiting to get their hair cut argued as to who was doing what and what they thought should be done to resolve the problems of the country. It was not rare to see tow or more men go outside the barber -shop and duke it out. Politics was important to everyone, for America was in big financial trouble. After my Dad got his hair cut the barber put a board across the arms of the barber seat and I would climb onto the board. Then Newt, (that’s was the name of our barber) cut my hair. As I got older I was permitted to sit on the seat and tell the barber how I wanted my haircut. Well, anyway, when I was finished, my Dad and I walked home. On the way, my Dad asked me if I had listened to the men arguing about politics. Of course I said that I had. Because, I knew my Dad was going to ask me questions on politics. So, I always listened closely to what was being said and who seemed to have the best ideas. On our way home we discussed the pros and cons of politics. After a while, I got pretty good and even offered some ideas and observations of my own. So, from a very early age, I became interested to politics. There were times when I didn’t care as much as other times and as I grew older, I became rather liberal in my thinking.” “You a liberal?” remarked the young man. “ I don’t believe that!” Well, my boy, it is true, I am sorry to say.” Commented the wise old man. “When I went to college most of my teachers were liberal and so it was hard not to think the liberal line. But, my Dad had been a Republican and the New Deal was not his cup of tea. He did not care for FDR and he told me why. He said that the Democrats were setting themselves up so that voters would think that if they voted for a Democrat, all would be well. Dad told me that Democrats wanted to take care of people from the cradle to the grave. And since many people were willing to let that happen, they probably would vote for a Democrat, regardless of what they stood for. But when I got into the Army I never voted for any politician. I spent most of my time in foreign countries and I just lost interest in politics. I had to obey the orders of the President of The United States anyway, so it didn’t matter who the President was. (Or so I thought) Then when Viet Nam came along I got to see how a Democrat president could screw up the country and my life. And when I retired, I started to vote and I always voted Republican. Being a citizen is not a passive job. People must study the problems or issues that we have in society and determine where they stand and what is right or wrong and who is doing the right thing for us, and the country. I just never found any Democrat who was doing the right thing. The only thing a Democrat cares about is power and money is power. So there you are. I learned about politics from my Dad and I just kept learning, as I grew older. Then when I voted I was an informed voter. If you are not an informed voter you should not vote.” “I see.” said the young man.
Happy Birthday, Nina. You are the greatest.
Happy Birthday Christy! Mama and I wish you a happy birtday and many many more to come. You have made us all proud of you. We look forward to the joint birthday party for all of us this weekend. Ourlove always, and forever. Love Mama and Dad

Kurt. Good to talk with you last night. Just because we don't talk doesn't mean I don't think of you and miss you. I love you.
Kurt, great pictures of Conor and Hunter! Congratulations Hunter. You look like a pro out there on the football field. Yesterday Mama and I went with the Shipleys to eat lunch at Costal Restaurant in Panacea. We had fun chatting and laughing about nothing in particular, and had a good meal. Today, we met with the Roberson’s for lunch at the Rice Bowl. Such fun! Mama and I will expect these good times all the time. We are lucky to have great kids and Grandchildren. Life is great.

Mama and I visited the Robersons today. We hugged Conor. Now he raises his little head and looks around. He can suck his thumb and when he is hungry, he can let out a bellow and every one runs to see what he wants. Barbra is happy cause her Derek is here with her. Oh happy day! This afternoon, the Shipleys came to viit us and we had a good chat talking about this and that. Life is great!
Let's go NOLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The BIG GUY is wise, He thinks with a clear mind and precise language. If all Americans were as patriotic as the BIG GUY, our country would be stronger. The Foundng Fathers said that an informed electorate was necessary for the Republic to survive. THE BIG GUY is an example of an informed citizen. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK! I am looking forward to your next post.
Barbra and Conor came home this morning from Gainsville. Conor met all of his grandparents and Great Gandparents. Conor is so handsome that I know he'll look like his father. Thank God for Derek! We went to Public's this afternoon and met Barbra, Conor, Sarah and Adam. Adam is getting a canoe.. What luck! Life is GREAT.
I was driving to work and I was listening to the commy station better known as NPR. I realized from what i heard that today our great country came toghether to make one of our the most important decisions in history. We will now impose our will on the united nations to put a stop to that idiot Saddam. We are going to use him as an example. From now on any self proclaimed moron that thinks he can instill fear into ou great country is going to think twice. My advice to them is simply leave us alone because Osama has awoken THE SLEEPING GIANT!!! We will not let this happen anymore, all of actions will be well planned and executed with great precision. There is one thing I know for sure that all of our lost souls who were attacked on Sept.11th will be looking over all of our troops to make sure they succeed in our attempts to make this a better world for our tomorrow. I will sleep better. Thank you president Bush!!
TRIP TO ANDERSONVILLE: Yesterday, Buddy, Mama and I drove up to Andersonville, Georgia. It had been several years since we had visited the museum, but it closed before we completed our visit. If you have not been to Andersonville, it is well worth the trip. Andersonville was one of the biggest and most infamous Confederate prison camp in the South during the Civil War, (The war between the states) Inside the stockade, thousands of Union POW's were incarcerated in the most terrible conditions imaginable. Thousands of the prisoners died as a result of unbelievably inhuman conditions. There were almost no sanitary facilities and the prisoners had to get water from a small stream that ran through the camp. The prisoners had no shelter from the winter cold or the summer sun and food was scare, for the Confederacy was unable to feed it's own army, let alone give food to the prisoners. If you have not made the trip to Andersonville, you should go, because it is an eye opener. If you want to read about the history of the prison at Andersonville, read the book entitled Andersonville for it will open your eyes. By the way, the Yankees had a prison camp for Rebel POW's also and conditions were just as bad up north as they were in the South. But, the real reason we went to Andersonville was to visit the National POW Museum. The museum is dedicated to prisoners of war from all wars. From the outside, the museum looks very much like a concentration camp with guard towers overlooking the main buildings. The tour began with a movie that graphically told the story of POW's throughout history. The movie is so moving that I was weeping thought the show. As the movie progressed, there were many stories, told by the men and woman who were captured by the enemy. Then we walked through the museum and looked at or read every thing that was displayed. The first room is totally dark and guns with bayonets are sticking out of the walls, just as though the visitor had been captured. As the narrator explained what it was like to be captured, flashing lights illuminated the guns. Then we walked room by room and viewed the displays and letters and other artifacts that had been donated by POW's and their families. In short, I can say that the museum is one of the most impressive and informative but depressing place I have ever seen in the United States. At one wall, the story told of James (nick) Rowe who was captured just a few miles from where I was an advisor in Vietnam. Lt. Rowe was a POW for five years under the most terrible conditions that one could imagine. Nick wrote the book, Five Years To Freedom. And I recommend that book to everyone, for you should read the story of a brave American who survived a terrible ordeal under unimaginable conditions. But there are many other books, that tell the story of what it is like to be captured. And their books tell what our brave Service men and women endured when they were captured. The tour through the museum was physically and mentally draining and people whispered as they walked through the rooms. On our way home I recalled what we had seen and I thought that I two might have been captured like Lt. Rowe, for I was assigned to a Sub-Sector in Kien An District, on the edge of the U Minh Forest in IV Corps of the Mekong River Delta.
BIG GUY, Here is my answer to you on firearms. Those who came to the new world (USA) were just poor people and their government, (usually a king or despot) did not permit his people to be armed. It was too dangerous. For when the people are armed, the King was afraid they would rise up and overthrow him. So when the Europeans came to the new world, they published the Bill of Rights. The Second Amendment said that the right to keep and bear arms should not be infringed. Now we find that the liberals, who are just Democrats, fear firearms, for they are cowards and think that people with guns are dangerous. As you said, Big Guy, guns do not kill people. People kill people. But Conservatives know there is danger that the Liberals will cancel the Second Amendment if they are in power. So, like the vote for the war, the Democrats have polled the people and they see that the American people are not anti- gun. That is one of the reasons why Algore changed his stance on guns in the last presidential election. Here in Florida, we have a conceal law and that has been responsible for lowering crime in our state. So, criminals never know when the person they are about to rob, might have a gun concealed on their person. That is my response to you. Of course, you were correct in your last post. I welcome your ideas. Keep up the good work!
LIBERALISM CONTINUED…Speaking to the wise old man, the young man asked this question: “Sir, I am confused. You told me that liberals are anti war. Now we see many Democrats siding with the President on the war against Saddam. Isn’t that a contradiction?” “No, my son, that is how Democrats are. They are liars and they can’t be trusted. The reason the Democrats are siding with the President now, is that they have looked at the polls and found that the American people support the President. And since the mid term election comes up this November, they know the voters will not vote for someone who has voted against the war. So, the Democrats are liars and they are dishonest and can’t be trusted. They have no core beliefs and will do anything and say anything just to keep power. Even Senator Daschle, the majority leader of the Senate, is now pledging to support the President. There are some holdouts like “Republican” Ron Paul. But, he is really an Independent and not a real Republican. Paul is just as stupid as any Democrat like Ted (the drunk) Kennedy. And of course there are other stupid Democrats who haven’t done anything in their careers. But the one’s who are running for reelection in November, will get on the bandwagon just to get reelected. They have no morals and are just worthless pieces of skin. Does that answer your question?” “Yes.” replied the young man. But I still have more questions. CONTINUED….
I agree with you, BIG GUY! Now I address this directly to you, BIG GUY. You have honored your parents. They have raised you the right way. I do not know them, but I am impressed with the messages that you post in the guest page. As I told the young man, when one is mature (that is, a real man) one becomes conservative. You are a real conservative and I admire you and your ideas. I do not know you, BIG GUY, but you are my friend. You have the right answers on so many subjects, that you and I could spend time together, hunting or fishing or just being together, and I would not be bored by our conversations. GO FOR IT, BIG GUY! ATH
Liberalism: (Lifters and Leaners) The young man was ready. He had his questions and he confronted the wise old man. “Why must American be the one to do everything? What must we pay the bills and go it alone? Why don’t the other nations lend a helping hand?” The old man replied, “ Let me tell you a story that will illustrate my answer to you. Many Americans have often asked why does the USA have to go it alone? Why can’t we just wait for the UN to do its job? Why aren’t there more nations aligned with us? Why can’t someone else do something? Do you remember the movie, High Noon? Remember that the people of the town knew that there were bad men coming to do evil. But, the town’s sheriff had just gotten married and he was leaving town on his honeymoon. However, when he heard that the bad men were coming, he decided to remain in town and settle the problem himself. Then the sheriff had a meeting of town’s men. The sheriff began asking the men to be deputized. He needed help, for the bad men were very bad. But, one by one, the men of the town remembered that they had other things to do. Or they were worried that they might get hurt and then their family would suffer. In short, the men of the town were cowards. In the end the Sheriff was the only one left. Even his wife deserted him. In the end, the sheriff had to go it alone. He could have hurried out of town with his new wife and never looked back. But the sheriff could not do that. His conscious would not let him turn his back on the people in the town. So, that is the place we in the United States are in now. Our only true friend in the world is Tony Blair, the Prime Minister of England. And in reality, there is just Tony Blair, for many of the other British Members of Parliament are against taking action. They are like so many members of our Congress. So, like the Sheriff in High Noon, the USA may have to go it alone. Why? Because that is the way it is. That is how life is. There are the lifters and there are the leaners. But, there are always more leaners than lifters. But someone has to do it. And thank God there is at least one man who is willing to take the risk. That is our President. For what if all the doubters are wrong? What if Iraq does have nuclear and biological weapons and is able to use those weapons like the terrorists did on 911? What if Saddam announces that he has planted a nuclear weapon or a biological weapon in a ship in some American port? And, that if the USA does not do Saddam’s bidding, he will trigger the device. Who wants to bet that will not happen? What has been Saddam’s past record? We cannot wait to see, we must take action now. It is a matter of life or death and our survival is at stake. What is your next question?” CONTINUED…….
GUNS DO NOT KILL PEOPLE. HATRED KILLS PEOLPE. UNFORTUNATLEY WE LIVE IN A WORLD THAT THRIVES ON EVIL NOT LOVE. I BELIEVE IN THE STATEMENT, "EYE FOR AN EYE". MAYBE OUR GOVERNMENT SHOULD CONCENTRATE ON EDUCATING OUR YOUNG PEOLPE ON THE DANGER OF FIREARMS INSTEAD OF TRYING DICTATE TO US WEATHER OR NOT WE SHOULD OWN A GUN...... EDUCATION IS THE KEY!!!!! VIVA FIDEL!!!!!!
I agree with the BIG GUY. My country, right or wrong! if you don't love it, Leave it! LIVE FREE OR DIE! The enemy is within us and if we fall it will not come from without, but from within. Down with the left. Up with the right! Give me liberty or give me death!
The Second Amendment ensures that the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. That portion of the Bill of Rights which gives the people the right to keep and bear arms was written because men had cause to fear the government. An armed society prevents government from being dictatorial. The first thing that Hitler did was to disarm the German people. The first thing that Stalin did was to disarm the Russian people. Never register your guns for if you do, the government can and will go to you and force you to give up your firearms. Join the NRA for that organization is the only shield we have against gun confiscation
WHY DO ALL AMERICANS WANT TO QUESTION OUR GREAT LEADER WHEN HE IS ABOUT TO SHOW THE WORLD ONCE AND FOR ALL THAT WE WILL NOT STAND IN FEAR OF THOSE WHO DO NOT BELIEVE IN OUR WAY OF LIFE? I SAY TO THOSE WHO WANT US TO LAY DOWN AND WAIT FOR SOMETHING WORSE TO HAPPEN. LEAVE OUR COUNTRY NOW!!!! IF YOU ARE NOT WITH US GUESS WHAT YOU ARE WITH EVERYBODY ELSE WHO HATES OUR WAY OF LIVING!!!!!!
The Romans had a cliche that goes like this.IF YOU WANT PEACE, PREPARE FOR WAR.
Bea and Joe: I will be finshed with my latest course this week and then I can spend some time. Don
Liberalism continued: Do you ever see a Black Bird flying with a Blue Jay? How about a dog and cat together? Perhaps, but it is not a common sight. That is how it is with liberals and conservatives. They do not mix well together. It is like oil and water. If liberals and conservatives cohabitate, it is because neither of them are the real thing. But that is how it is in life. You can construct a Bell Curve on most things in life. Some people are staunch conservatives while others are died in the wool liberals. Almost every one else is in- between. Many people have no core beliefs. They have never considered what their philosophy of life is. They just wander through life and haven’t a clue what they stand for. Remember, consensus is the absence of leadership. Someone once said that the unexamined life is not worth living. So, if one does not look deep into life, they aren’t worth much. Well, you might ask, how does it happen? What makes one person become a liberal and another one a conservative? I believe that it is more nurture than nature. It comes from the association with others. If a child is raised in a liberal family, it is natural that they probably will be liberal. If a person’s parents are conservative, then it stands to reason that they probably will be conservative as adults. But that is not a hard and fast rule. As I told you during one of our first lessons, Churchill once said that if you are young and not a liberal, you have no heart. But if you are a mature person and are still a liberal, then you have no brain. Liberalism usually comes with youth. Young people have not had the experience in life that an older person has had. It takes experience to mold a person’s personality. So, how do people develop a liberal way of thinking? First, liberals read liberal books. Liberals read liberal newspapers (The Tallahassee Democrat) Liberals watch the alphabet TV news (ABC, CBS, NBC) because the media is liberal and liberalism does not require much introspection. Liberals listen to National Public Radio and agree with the liberal claptrap they hear on shows like The Dianne Rehm Show. And, liberals associate with other liberals. Why would anyone hang out with people they do not agree with? As an example, there are few if any, who enjoy rap, as well as classical music. Having always to disagree and fight with the other person is not pleasing. So, we mostly associate with people who are like us. Then there are the young. Young people look at life through rose- colored glasses. Young people think that they can change the world. The older they get however, most people come to realize that they can’t change the world and that no matter what their message is, or how strong their argument for a particular course of action is, the other person will probably not ever change their way of thinking. Those who enjoy argument for argument’s sake are mental masturbators. Do you think you could ever get a liberal to believe that guns are not evil and that The National Rifle Association is not the personification of the devil? Or that saving the caribou in the Alaskan National Wildlife Reserve is less important than searching for oil and making the USA less dependent upon Middle Eastern oil? Or that killing the unborn baby (libs call it a fetus) is not just about a woman’s right to choose? There is no purpose to argue with people whose minds are closed. Do you think that anyone would be able to change the mind of a Democrat or to change the mind of a Republican? If you are for the Noles, can a Gator fan make the case for cheering for the Gators? NOT HARDLY! But, there is an old saying that the difference between a liberal and a conservative is the first mugging. But, a person’s mind can be changed by some dramatic event. After a woman is raped, there is no problem in convincing her that it’s a dangerous world out there and she is the one who would change her mind to agree with the death penalty. That’s what it comes down to. A liberal looks at life unrealistically. Liberals are STUPID! Liberals do not obey laws that they disagree with. Liberals are not trustworthy. Liberals think that if it feels right, then it must be right. Logic has no place in a discussion with a liberal. You can give liberals hard evidence on a serious problem and you might as well blow smoke rings into the air. But here is an example that may help simplify the situation. It is all about power. Now, many people will say, SO WHAT? Who cares who has the power? Call them the KNOW NOTHINGS. They will drag their feet until things get so bad that the decision to take action (that is, take positive action or go to war) is past due. Republicans control the House of Representatives. Democrats control the Senate. Now we have a national emergency, according to the Republicans. And the Republicans have pretty much decided that the USA must take immediate action against Saddam Hussein, the butcher of Baghdad. Many Democrats agree that there is a crisis but that more information is needed before action is taken. What lesson did they learn on 911? What more do they need to know? Still other Democrats can see no threat to the USA and they would not agree to destroy Saddam regardless of the evidence. Liberals (Democrats) just can’t bring them selves to take positive action. Since neither the Republicans nor the Democrats have the majority of the power, the USA is in great danger. The danger is, to do nothing. If you look back to the period before World War Two, the same situation existed in England. The leaders of England thought that appeasement was all that had to be done to counter Hitler. Then, after things had progressed to a point that Hitler invaded Poland, Churchill became Prime Minister and he single handedly forced England to prepare for war. It took Pearl Harbor before the Americans got involved. So, never let any one tell you that there is no difference between a liberal and a conservative. Or that it doesn’t matter. We are talking about survival or destruction.” “OK,” replied the young man. “But what about those who have fought a war and they now think just like a liberal?” “Just because a person has fought in a war does not mean that they will always think like a conservatives. We have several examples of that. Senator John Mc Cain was a POW in North Vietnam and yet, he often leans toward liberalism. The same thing goes for John Glenn. He was an Astronaut and he is now just another liberal senator. Then there is Pete Peterson who was the first ambassador to Viet Nam. Peterson was a POW in North Vietnam, and he is as liberal as they come. So, what has happened in a person’s past is not that important.” The wise old man then looked directly into the eyes of the young man and he said, “Now, what are your questions??
The stpid white men didn't even know that what they called Indians were not Indians at all but just a bunch of savages who some day would appear on our coins and stand in front of our barber shops. When I was a little boy, I always wantd to be an Indian so I could sneak up on a cowboy and scalp him.
Sunday morning! what a beautiful day in autumn. Buddy and I are going on our walk to AJ Henry Park. Maybe we will meet the Shipleys in the woods. Life is Great!
What is important? what matters? your job? how about your 401K? a new computer? a trip to Bermuda? No, none of that. A man was cutting grass the other day and someone drove by and shot him to death. The shooter wasn't mad at the guy. The shooter didn't even know who he was. It was just target practice. So what matters? you might be the next victim. The moral of the story is HAVE FUN, LOVE YOUR FAMILY,KISS YOUR SPOUSE AND GO OUT TO DINNER. MEET FOR LUNCH. PLAY WITH YOUR KIDS. And do anything else you want to do. For, you might as well live your life as though there was no tomorrow. For, it just might be!

Rebecca, it was nice to read your post in the guest book. It's intrerestig to hear that your ancestors also came from the Palatine. How do you know that? Have you researched your family tree? We have gone back to the late seventeen hundreds and can trace my ancestors back that far. They lived in Powell's Valley, close to Harrisburg, Pa. But, going back to when and who came to Pednnsylvania is going to be difficult. I would sure like to hear from you via E-Mail.. so, send me your address.
Conor went for his first check-up at the doctors. He is two weeks old today. Grandma went with Barbra and Conor got the once-over. What a sweet little boy he is. How lucky we are to have our family. If we were still living in Niceville we could take advantage of the Emerald Coast. But, we would just be old people sitting on the beach beside the beautiful Gulf Of Mexico. We would not be close enough to have Kurt drop by on his day off. Or have Barbra, Adam and Sarah come to dinner or have Nina and Claude drop by just to chat. So, who cares that we no longer live in the most beautiful place in the world. In stead, we live in Tallahassee with our kids and grandchildren. What could be better than that? LIFE IS GREAT! Thank you all for loving us.

Actnuts-what a great name for your family website. Unfortunately, the only people in your family that I could recognised were Joe, Bea,and Nina.Amazing how the years have raced by while we have silently lost touch with one another, but with Email and websites those links will remain open between us. Please keep yours updated. Thanks for the family history which is so similiar to my father's side of the tree in that they also came as Palatine Germans in about the same year. Long to see you, perhaps during the winter- I've never been to Florida, but feel that I must just so that I will be able to see you again and meet your handsome and attractive clan. In the meanwhile enjoy the warm authum for me because the monsoon has begun- burr it's cold, and very damp with heavy rain. When it doesn't rain, long gray clouds just sit brooding on my shoulders and head like a heavy weight-just sligtly depressing.
Hello world! We are up and running. Thanks to Kurt. We went down several days ago because AOL decided that we had a virus in our sign-in set up. According to AOL, the virus was set to "steal" our password. Who could have thought of such a thing? Well, Kurt called AOL and within minutes we were up a running with a new passwrd. Brilliant! Kurt we look up to you. It seeems we hve been gone for months but there was just a bunch of junk waiting for us on line. Hee tis Octber. Today on our walk, Buddy and I remarked at how the weather was startng to change. There was a cool breeze and it was so pleasant. One of the best things in my day is going with my Buddy. Everyone should have a Buddy. He is everythng a friend should be. He is hones and true and he never complains. When I am ready, he never says, Oh, give me five minutes and I may go with you. Yesterday we went over to Barbra's and picked up Conor and Barbra.. and then Nina came along. Off we went to the Tallahassee Mall. I walked the mall and the woman and Conor shopped. Conor is now two weeks old. His first trip was to see his Grandma and Grandpa and then he visited the food stores and Walmart and now he's done the Mall. What a sweet boy! How lucky we are that Conor is so sweet. It seems as though we have had him forever We can't wait till Barbra goes back to work and then we will have Conor to ourselves. Life is Great!!
