Spent quality time together. We went shopping and bought him new sneaks. He is in a size 8 1/2! On Thursday we had a special guest at Team Toyota. Pat Moran visited for about two hours. Of course, I succeeded in making an ass out of myself. Click here for more.

The birthday party at A.J. Henry Park was great! Look! |
Dear Amber and Hunter. Grandma and I missed both your big events. Amber, I was in too much pain last night to go see you cheer. Today I was in the doctor's office from 1130-1430. So, I could not visit you to hear you recite your poetry. Maybe some day Grandma and I can see you do your thing. So far, we have not been very successful. Please know that we were thinking of you. I know it is great to look out in the audience and see some familiar face in the audience. So, keep up the good work and some day we will be out there to see you do your thing.
Hunter has his poetry reading in his classroom today at 12:30. If you want to go, show up!
Today I am seveny one years old. I never thought I would be that old. Or young. It all depends upon the viewer. How will Mama and I celebrate the event? by going to Super WalMart and then to Ban Thai restaurant. You might say, Is that all there is? well, we soon find out in life that the little things often are big things. Spending time with those we love is more important than going round the world. Already, Barbra has called to wish me a happy birthday. On Actnuts, Kurt has posted a greeting. What more can one ask for? The greatest present are the words of love, expressed sincerely, by those we love.
Hunter has a poem reading at 12:30 pm on Wednesday, in his classroom if anyone is interested in attending. Thank you Grandma for purchasing the car wash ticket and 2 poinsettas. Any other takers on the car wash, Amber has 10 tickets to sell for $5.00 a piece. Remember your Christmas decorating! Amber has the poinsettas just for you. Just let us know. Barbra, Sunday was fun I enjoyed going to the mall. Adam looked handsome in his sweatshirt today. Hunter's pants were to small, back to the store I go this weekend. darn!
Christy it was nice to spend time together yesterday Glad we got the kids set for the wedding.Thnk you for offering the hand me downs.I will take whatever you are getting rid of.Thank you.Maybe i will see you at the football game.
What a wonderful day for our joint birthday! Christy, Nina, Kurt and I had a beautiful autumn day to clelbrate the biggest day in our year. It was nice to talk with each of you and exchange gifts. But just being together is the best. Family is important. In the end, that is all you can trust. All for one, one for all! We have spent many happy hours at that pavillion in AJ Henry Park. We have seen the little kids grow up and now they talk with each other rather than bicker. How lucky we all are. We all missed the missing members but know that they were with us in spirt if not in body. Love you all, Dad
Yes,Christy I will take two poinsette's and also a car wash ticket to help Amber out. We will plan on the football game Tuesday. Also the game on Saturday. Saturday will be a busy day as also a Craft Show at the Catholic church that I like to go to but can do that in the afternoon. I had though Mule day was the first Saturday of November but have not seen anything about that yet. Well a person cannot always do it all. I know some of you try to do so but wait until you are ove 70. Smiles All have a good week.
Good to see you all at the park today.Family s great Had a good weekend in Gainesville with Derek and also went to a get together at Grandma and Grandpa Robersons. They are a close family and i feel lucky to be part of it.Good to see everyone.Love you all.
I just wanted to let family know that Amber is cheering at the last football game, on Tuesday at 5:30 at Cox stadium. Also, if anyone is in the market for poisettas (?). AMber is selling them for her gym. They are $9.00 each. They stand 18" tall with multiple blooms. The money goes to Amber and the gym. Just let me know. Also, Amber is involved in another car wash for cheerleading $5.00 a ticket. The car wash is this Saturday from 12 - 4pm. Let me know if you are interested, she has to sell 10 tickets ahead of time and Walmart is going to match how much we make at the car wash. Awesome. Hunter's next football game is at 8:30 next Saturday morning, it will be played at meridian park. Thank you
The B-day picnic at AJ Henry Park was a reaffirmation that family needs to see each other once in awhile to reconnect. Sorry some of the family members couldn't make it, but we'll see them next time. Enjoyed seeing all of you and thank you for reading your poem, Dad.
AJ Henry was a lot of fun. Thanks to Nina and Claude for the cute halloween decorations. Thanks to Kim and Heather for the Borders card, I will put it to good use. Thanks to Barbra for the sweater, I'll be wearing it next week, and thanks to Grandma and Grandpa for the sampler, it will look great in my newly decorated living room. I have had a wonderful birthday. Thank you all. Love, Christy
Dear Family,It was great to have you all with us atAJ Henry Park today. A little on the cool side but I think the chili and love of the family kept us all warm. Nice to have the young members with us also. Food was great and thanks to all for helping put it all together. I wish all the birthday people to have many more happy years and that Dad and I can also be with you. Until The next birthdays and Thanksgiving, I love you all. Glad to have you back in town Barbra. Missed Derek, Adam and Sarah.
It was nice to finally meet your family Barbra. I really enjoyed them and your shower. We are so glad to have you as a part of our family. I wish you much love and happiness.
WOW! I think winter has come to Tallahassee. I can hardly believe another week is over. Has been a good but busy week for us. Hope to see you all on Sunday at A.J. Henry Park. Better bring your sweat shirt but the Chili may keep you warm. love to all. Give me a phone call if you need any information on Sunday. Hope Kim that you got home safe and sound tonight.
Trip to The Emerald Coast (continued) Mama and I visted the places we enjoyed during our days as beach bums. We had dinner at the Eglin Officer's Club. It was as good as ever. Then we drove through the base and found that most of the militay people had departed for the war against terrorism. We drove to Sailboat Drive and looked longingly at our home. It still looks as pretty as the day we first saw it. Then we headed out toward Destin over the Mid Bay Bridge. The emerald green water along the Gulf of Mexico was as breathtaking as it ever was. But, the scenery has changed so much we hardly knew where the old landmarks were. We finally ended up at the Crap Trap and had our lunch there. But, a passing storm whipped up the waves so much and the wind was so strong that we soon decided to head back to Tallahasee. We agreed that you can't go backward. The memories that once were so fond are just memories. We may never go back to the Emerald Coast. Went there done that. When we got home we cleaned up and went to the Shipleys for Dinner. Budddy was waiting for me and I hugged him. At last we were back home with those we love. Its good to leave but even better to eturn.
Mom and Dad, I hope you have a great trip to the mountains. I will miss you.
Thanks Mom and Dad for going to see Amber cheer tonight. Barbra, it was good to see you, Adam and Sarah at the football game. I will talk to you during the week or see you on Sunday, I hope.
everybody loves the big guy!!!!!!!!!!! big guy=louis
I agree with Kurt. What a great and busy weekend. The shower at Nina's home was very nice. The walk in the park with family was fun but hard on this old Mama Bea.I am sure it was good for me.Going to the woman's show with Nina was great and hope to do it next year. Having Happy Hour with Barbra and Derek was also special. To top the evening off with dinner with family at Carabo's was delicious. Nice to see Erik and Jen. Life is good.
Thank you Mom,Nina and Christy for a wonderfull party. It was all perfect. The women in our family are awesome.Thank you to Teri,Linda,Grandma Peg and Granma Roberson. It meant alot to me to have you all here.Thank you all.
Hey Christy and Kurt,You did a great job with the shower pictures. Thanks for sharing. I thought the shower was lovely and everyone enjoyed being there. Barbra received some nice gifts and life is great. Thanks to all.

As we approached Eglin AFB, we noticed a sign announcing a 100% ID Card inspection. We got out our ID Cards and waited for the next move. The guard on the gate waved us on then we were channelized into a single file. At last we were stopped by camouflaged Air Police. Off in the field, we noticed a HumV with a 50. caliber machinegun mounted in the back. The guards were serious and unsmiling. We continued on through Eglin and signed in at the Officers Guest House. The Base was deserted. The War on Terrorism must have taken most of the airplane jocks. (Continued)
Trip to Emerald Coast (continued)After arriving at Destin, Mama and I went right to the nursing home where Mr Jim is. We were shocked at his condition. Ruth never let on that he was is bad. He can talk and that is just about all he can do. He can't move, feed himself or void. He can use his right hand. All the rest has to be done for him. The conditions are great at the home, but the money will sooon run out. Please any of you, if you love me, don't let me exist like Mr Jim. Off me some way. We all played remember when with Ruth and Jim and then took Ruth to lunch. What a change in Destin. It looks like a jungle of high rises. Next Mama and I headed to Eglin to sign into the guest house. What a challenge to get on the Base! (Continued)
Over the past weeknd, Mama and I went to the Emerald Coast to visit Mr. Jim Gibson and take a trip down memory lane. One thing to remember, you can never go back. Things and people are never the same. Only memories remain. All the scenes we knew so well have changed on the Emerald Coast. All the friends we knew during the eighties and nineties have either moved, are incapacistated in some hospital or are dead. (continued)
Happy Birthday Nina. Another year has passed by. What great and awesome changes have occurred since last year. Could anyone ever imagined them a year ago? You now live in Tallahassee with a new home and job. You have it all. What a present! How lucky you are. Health wealth and good looks. Mama and I can remember you as our little girl. What a pretty little girl you were. Now you are a beautiful woman. See you tonight at the Rice Bowl.
Happy Birthday Nina! I hope you enjoy your day off? Thank you for the call last night.
Happy birthday Nina.Enjoy the day.I will miss you today at work.I love you.
Christy: Happy Birthday---we'll celebrate in high fashion the end of the month at the October B-day picnic. BUT in the meantime, I wanted to let you know we wished you the very best as you become another year better:>)
Happy Birthday Christy! Another year has passed by. How quickly they fly. We all wish you many more and hope that health and wealth will come your way and bring you happiness, now and forever. Love, Mama and Dad
Happy Birthday Christy. Hope you have a good day. We will celebrate with you on the 28th. Was nice to see you for a few minutes Saturday evening. After leaving I thought about all the things that I did not ask about. The concert and such. See you Saturday if not before.
Happy Birthday Christy!Have a great day.
Hey Barbra, Friday night was fun. Thanks for going to the concert with me. I can't wait until the next one. So how many sets of stairs did we trip on? Hope your weekend in Gainsville was fun. See ya soon.
Dear Kurt, Thank you for checking on us. We like that. I know you will enjoy having Saturday off. We could come to see you but we will be out of town. Oh we will be back sometime Saturday late afternoon or evening. Enjoy the game. We are thinking that we may have rain so may not have any beach time. Oh well it is nice to be thinking of going on this short trip. Dad is glad that we are not flying. Love you.
Amber you make a great Cheerleader!!
Today I scrolled back over the guest book. How the world has changed since 911. But our family has not changed much. The USA is at WAR since Sunday 7 October 2001. But for most of us, life goes on unchanged. The same things happen every day. We get up go to work (except Mama and me) We eat lunch and then back to work and some time in the evening, we come home exhausted and burned out from the stress and strain of labor, to our life at home. The routine rarely changes. But that is what makes life so sweet. We don't have to duck an incomming shell or dodge a bullet. We are not afraid to attend a public gathering. Malls continue on as usual. Halloween is coming. Kids are excited. But out there in the world, people are holding their breath. When will the next shoe fall? And what terrible events will it bring/ Oonly a fool thinks that there is an end to terrorism. I asked someone the other day if he thought he would have to fight. He smiled and said, Oh no, it will be over in a few weeks. Will terrorism some day touch our family in some way? Lucky we don't have a cristal ball. But, autumn is a beautiful time of the year here in the Big Bend. So, let's enjoy life while we can. Love eachother. Hug your children and plan on getting a new Toyota some day. Mama and I love you all.
Hey Barbra, it was good seeing you at the Raa football game. Amber was glad you and Adam and Sarah were there. If I don't talk to you, see you on Friday.
I guess I have been out of touch on the site. I like the format Kurt. I almost forget what you look like. ALl is well with the SHipley's Claude is in Chipley for a two day meeting but he'll be home tomorrow. The Doctor I work for lost his twin brother in a house fire over the weekend so he is very sad. Kurt and Christy remember your fire. His also started in the kitchen but he was asleep and never woke up. Amber sorry I missed your car wash. I read it too late in Actnuts. Next time call me and remind me so I can support you. Mama and Dad thanks so much for supper last night. It was yummy. All for now.
I can't believe it! Kurt suddenly appreared in the guest book. We have been wondering if he was just a figment of our imagination. It has been so long since we saw him, we wondered if we ever had a son named Kurt. But then, he spent Sunday with his family on the Wakulla River so we know he is performing the duties of a husband and father. Thank goodness he can do that. I sure hope that Team Toyota appreciates our son. I remember when I was a soldier and spent my life in the Army. Thank God that Mama could raise our children. I had little to do with the process. Well, they all turned out OK anyway. Ever heard Cats in the Cradle? well that is what Kurt is doing these days. Christy has to play father and mother to Amber and Hunter. I love the web pages for Sarah and Hunter. Great stuff. I hope we can meet Kurt some day before we pass on to the happy hunting ground.
Yes! You can take your own pictures and I can scan them into actnuts. Bring it on!
What a great idea! Sarah and Hunter have their own web page. Go there and see the kids. Getting the young kids involved in Actnuts is important. Some day, they will be adults and then their history in pictures or in words can be reviewed. Great idea Kurt. Next is to get the adults to go to Actnuts and contribute in the form of pictures and verse. Should I assume that you can take pictures and include them in the web page? Don't get discouraged. Great things take time and ACTNUTS is GREAT
Christy and Barbra we can not wait to see you two on friday night. Please plan to drink and dance till the wee hours of the morning. In honor of both your birth days we plan on playing all our hits.See you soon.
LOUIS IS THE COOLEST
WOW! Now Governor Bush is on our web page! That really is an honor. I thought the lottery was going to take care of the schools. Where is that lottery money going? huh? Next time some politician wants me to vote for a lottery I am going to tell that SOB to go fly a kite. It just aint right! My Mom never had a problem like that when she taught school back in the Thirties.I am mad as hell and I am not going to stand for it.
What a glorious day! Not! We were told today that our educational budget has been cut by 20%, therefore we do not get to order any supplies for the year. Not one, not even paper or pens for us (not students, teachers) to write with. We can not go to any educational meetings to enhance our learning to pass on to students. Which means we can't recertify. We have to complete all these special procedures for emergenies (which I can understand doing), but we have to buy our own flashlights to have on hand during these special emergencies. Then we are the lowest paid teachers in the state. Thanks, Gov. Bush
KURT WHY DOES EVERYBODY LOVE ME SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!
KURT I AM GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I forgot to add that the doctor checked my prostate yesterday and it is OK. What a relief! Men should all be concerned about their prostate. The older we men get, eventually we all get prostate cancer. And so, it is a race to see if we die first from some other cause or die from cancer. In a few more days, I will be 71... so, I consider myself lucky to be as healty as I am.
Good Morning Kurt! It is good to see you at home, behind the computer.
Everything worked out today. Anticipation is the unknown that frightens most of us. This morning, Mama and I were up at 0500 and I signed into the hospital at 0600. After preparation, I was in the OR at 0800. Everyone was so nice and helpfdul. The pretty young nurses assured me that they would not let me have pain. So, I watched the procedure (colonoscopy) throughout and it was like the Fantastic Voyage. I watched on the TV monitor as the camera coasted through my colon like a cavern. Thank God, it was clean and no pollups were present. In 20 minutes it was all over and I was back in recovery. After not eating for 28 hours, I was starved, so, Mama brought me breakfast from the hospital cafeteria. We had our breakfast together in the recovery room. Then I was released from the hospital at 1000 and Mama and I went home. It wasn't long till we were out on the road again headed for the Rice Bowl. WOW! what a delicious lunch. We spent the rest of the afternoon napping. Now we are rested and I am making pizza dough. Life is good. Barbra and Nina came to see us last evening to wish me well and Kurt called to wish me good luck. With all that moral support I came through with flying colors. Thank you family. God Bless America!
How good to see a member of the Arklow Bowman's appear all of a sudden in the Guest Book. It was not signed, but, I know it must have been Christy. Your comments on Amber and Hunter make Mama and me so proud. Christy, you are a good mother and wife. We see you out and around doing your taxi service with your kids. That is what it takes to make good children. Parent's interest. Quality time is important. We know all of you are busy, yet, some how you all find time to be good parents. It will pay off one fine day. So, keep it up! Some day your kids will appreciate all you have done for them. And, when they go back and look up the history of our family they will see that back in yesteryear, their parents cared for them and loved them.
Amber is an awesome little girl. She made all A's and one B on her report card. That's with 12 hrs of gym a week and 3 - 8 hours of cheerleading a week. She did great at her 1st football game. She can do amazing things at gym. Amber I am really proud of you. Thanks to Kurt for going to the football game to see her. Wayne, Adam and Sarah were also there. Hunter is doing great in school. He scored a 4 on the writes upon request. Go Hunter! Hunter is doing great at football and has another game on Saturday. Anyone interested in a car wash Amber will be washing cars on Saturday Morning, trying to raise money for the gym. Come on by, $2 a ticket. by the way, the car wash is at the gym.
Its is wonderful to see our Barbra so happy and in love. THANK GOD FOR DEREK
Kurt, the calendar is great. You have done a superb job. I urge all of the family to get involved in Actnuts. Go to the guest book every day. Read what others have written. Their thoughts and expressions. And the events in their life. Yes, you are busy... but it only takes a few minutes to read and write in the guest book. Anyway, no one is that busy. And if you are, you need to slow down and smell the flowers. It gets to be a habit after a while. What you write in the guest book is the history of our family. It is like a family diary. Think of how interesting the comments and thoughts will be when you scroll back over them after years have passed. Too soon we forget and if the events of our life are not recorded they will soon be forgotten. So, I ask all of you (and that inclues the grandchildren) to use the family web page.
Last evening Mama and I went over to Arklow to visit the Bowmans. Kurt was cooking on the grill and also had the outdoor fire place glowing. Hunter was helping. Amber was being Amber and Christy showed us their new living room chairs. By the way, Hunter looks awesome. Look out! Hunter is ready to kick butt. Amd he will do it!
